February 2018
It’s difficult to find a better place to be, then Las Vegas in February. The weather is gorgeous. There are tons of things to do--The Super Bowl, Valentine's Day, Chinese New Year, and MAGIC; just to name a few. February is the shortest month of the year, but it’s packed full. February is a busy time for conventions, and is always the start of new things as the city looks ahead to the summer. A new fire magic show is opening at the Paris this month, Inferno. And Vegas veterans, Clint Holms and Earl Turner are combining their talents for a new show at the Westgate.
February 4 - Super Bowl LII will be held at U.S. Bank Stadium, home of the Vikings, in Minneapolis, MN. The Patriots are favored by 4.5. Make your reservations to be in your favorite Las Vegas Sports Book for the time of your life. You'll never experience the excitement of a Super Bowl like being in Vegas (unless you can afford the tickets to be at the game). The average cost of a 30-second ad for the Super Bowl has crept up to $5 million this year, from an estimated $4.8 million last year. The commercials are a lot of people’s favorite part of the game.
Some of the interesting days that occur in February are: The 2nd is National Groundhog Day. February 4 is National Thank a Mailman Day. February 5 is National Shower with a Friend Day. The 7th is National Periodic Table Day. The 8th is National Kite Flying Day. The 11th is National Don’t Cry Over Spilled Milk day. February 17 is National Random Acts of Kindness Day. Also February is An Affair to Remember Month, and the 3rd Week of the month is International Flirting Week.
Chinese New Year 2018 begins on February 16, 2018. In 2018, the 12 Chinese zodiac signs must show tolerance and empathy towards the people they meet to preserve their karmic balance, especially if they wish to avoid unnecessary conflicts. Indeed, Chinese Zodiac 2018 energies are dominated by the Earth element in its Yang form. It's an eventful year, marked by security concerns and the rise of social conservative movements within society. According to KarmaWeather's 2018 Chinese horoscope, many voices around the world rise to highlight the importance of the universal values of dialogue and solidarity, which are characteristic values of the Chinese zodiac sign of the Dog. Selfishness, greed and ignorance being a major source of inequalities on Earth, only a social and cultural impulse, at the individual and collective level, can give a new hope to the millions of people in the world who are still suffering from neglect, indifference and the rejection from their community. According to the Chinese horoscope 2018, the Year of the Earth Dog 2018 is a good time for lifestyle changes (time to quit smoking or change residence) and for the start of new business ventures.
Every February and August, the retail industry convenes in Las Vegas for the United States’ most comprehensive fashion marketplace - MAGIC. Here you will find the latest in apparel, footwear, accessories, and manufacturing. From the height of advanced contemporary luxury brands, to the latest trends in fast fashion, MAGIC fuels the business of fashion. MAGIC is in town the 12th – 14th to introduce the spring fashions. MAGIC is one of the biggest conventions of the year with nearly 100k attendees...but in addition to this convention; there are also a couple of hundred other conventions that hit the city this month.
Valentine’s Day! February 14th falls on a Wednesday this year. Not the best day of the week to come to Vegas for a wedding. Look for a lighter than usual schedule for the chapels on that day. Normally, Las Vegas hosts nearly 10,000 weddings per month, and on Valentine’s day, they should do about 7,000…which is a sharp drop from times when the 14th lands on a weekend.

Judah & the Lion, the chart-climbing, genre-blending band from Nashville, brings their Going to Mars Tour to the House of Blues Las Vegas on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018. Years before forming one of Nashville’s most genre-blending bands, the members of Judah & the Lion grew up in separate corners of the U.S., listening to every type of music that came their way. They loved it all: the twang of folk, the beat of hip-hop, the drive of rock ‘n’ roll, the punch of pop. Later, after college brought all four musicians to Tennessee, it only made sense to combine those different backgrounds — and different sounds — together.
