LA CAVE AT WYNN UNVEILS NEW GARDEN LOUNGE

La Cave Wine & Food Hideaway at Wynn, which opened in 2010, has revealed its new garden lounge, a stylish refresh of the restaurant, along with several new dishes and wines.

The most striking enhancement change is to La Cave’s garden lounge, which is now enclosed in operable glass windows and offering a picturesque setting. The open-air design brings the outdoors inside with views of gardens and a pool, along with an enchanting floor-to-ceiling “living wall” filled with colorful succulents.

Other touches feature a lighter color palette, sheer drapes, and new furniture. With the expansion now totaling 6,300 square feet, there is more seating capacity for 175 guests.

Corporate Executive Chef William DeMarco, who developed the original La Cave menu of American small plates, has added several new menu items including: chicken and caviar made from chilled crispy wings, caviar and crème fraiche $29; sea scallops with chorizo and sunny side-up quail eggs $19; short rib tacos, $18; and baked meatballs served over creamy polenta $14.

La Cave added several new wines to its expansive list of 350 bottle selections and 50 wines by the glass. The restaurant opens daily at 11:30 a.m., and offers a butler-style brunch served every Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

BEER PARK HAS EXPANDED WITH INDOOR OPTION

Beer Park, the popular 9,000-square-foot rooftop playground at Paris overlooking the Strip, has more than doubled in size with the opening of a 10,000-square-foot expansion. The overall design of the expansion was inspired by a house with Beer Park’s current rooftop deck becoming the back yard.

With garage doors open the venue offers an indoor-outdoor feel. The living room-like inside offers comfortable, oversized seating with dozens of HDTVs viewable from every seat. Old-school arcade and carnival games include Skee-Ball, Pop-A-Shot and darts, plus an enclosed patio offers karaoke, open to the public or for private events. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide ample natural light during daytime, and views of the Strip at night.

Beer Park offers more than 100 varieties of beer, including 36 on draft, along with reimagined stadium cuisine, with many selections prepared on an outdoor, custom-made Budweiser beechwood smoker and grill.

The Flavors For Life (FFL) Organization will hold its first Gastronomic Affair downtown on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the World Market Center, Worldview on 16, Building B. This inaugural event will showcase some of Las Vegas’ top chefs and restaurants creating and serving special healthy dishes and will allow participants to discover new restaurants, recipes and ways to live healthy. Cookbooks featuring the recipes prepared at the affair will be available for a donation.

FFL’s healthy culinary movement is created to educate the community how to cook and eat healthy because America is No. 1 in the world in obesity among adults and children. Some contributing factors to this epidemic seem to be directly proportional to society’s shifts and heavy reliance on fast and processed foods. According to an article by “USA Today,” the average millennial eats out five times a week, 14 percent more than baby boomers. Educating diners on how to make healthier choices when eating out will motivate restaurateurs to offer more healthy meals in their menus.
