LADY ANTEBELLUM WILL HAVE 15-DATE 2019 RESIDENCY AT PALMS

            Lady Antebellum, the current CMA “Vocal Group of the Year” nominee, will have their first Las Vegas residency with 15 dates at the Pearl Concert Theater at the Palms starting Feb. 8, 2019. Show times will be 9 p.m. and tickets start at $34.95 and go on sale to the public Nov. 2.

            The seven-time Grammy award-winning trio will be the first country act to headline the venue. Over the course of their decade-long career, Lady Antebellum has had tremendous success with nine No. 1 hits including the 9x platinum hit “Need You Now,” which is the highest certified song by a country group. The group will bring Nashville to Sin City with stripped-down performances, which will often feature songwriters behind some of their hits. Lady Antebellum are scheduled for five shows in each of the following months: February, May and August.

 

PLAZA WILL OPEN DOWNTOWN’S NEWEST EVENT VENUE

            Expanding on last year’s success with an outdoor equestrian facility, the Plaza is enlarging the amenity and making it the first and only permanent outdoor equestrian center in downtown Las Vegas. The Plaza is doubling the number of equine stalls to 200, with 80 available for year-round use.

            The resort is an official hotel NFR sponsor and exclusive Host Hotel for the Junior NFR. During NFR, the facility will offer the largest stalls in the city, 24-hour onsite security and veterinarian services. In addition, during NFR, the new equestrian center will feature two outdoor arenas for roping practice and exercise.

            After NFR concludes, the Plaza’s equestrian center will become the city’s newest outdoor event venue.

 

NEW BRIDGE WILL GO OVER SOUTH END OF THE STRIP

            Construction has begun on a brand-new pedestrian bridge expected to open along the Strip next July. The $16.9 million project will have the crossover bridge going between Park MGM and the Showcase Mall, which sits in front of the MGM Grand. Like the Strip’s other existing pedestrian bridges, it will have escalators and elevators on both sides.

            Another precaution for the safety of pedestrians is the continuation of placing steel bollards along the Strip, which can withstand the impact of a 15,000-pound vehicle traveling at 50 mph. By the end of February, there will be 3,800 steel posts in place.

 

BLINK-182’S RETURN TO THE PEARL AT THE PALMS

            The return of blink-182’s residency “Kings of the Weekend” continues Nov. 2-3, 9-19 and 16-17 at 9 p.m. in the Pearl Concert Theater, which completed a multi-million-dollar renovation including new lighting, sound, video and massive LED screen, at the Palms. The band’s seventh studio release “California” features Billboard’s Alternative chart-topping tune “Bored to Death,” “She’s Out of Her Mind,” and residency title track “Kings of the Weekend.” Tickets for start at $35.

 

SANTA FE STATION HOSTS ‘NORMAN BROWN’S JOYOUS CHRISTMAS’

            Norman Brown, Grammy Award-winning Contemporary Jazz and R&B superstar, is returning to Las Vegas for his annual holiday show “Norman Brown’s Joyous Christmas” featuring special guests Bobby Caldwell and Marion Meadows in the Chrome Showroom at Santa Fe Station on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $27.50.

 

            Brown, who first picked up a guitar at age 8, has sold close to two million albums living virtually at the top of the Billboard Contemporary Jazz sales and radio charts.

            New York native Caldwell formed his first band at 17 years old. His songs have contributed to more than $40 million sales with major diverse artists. In addition, Caldwell starred in the theatrical production “The Rat Pack is Back” in Las Vegas.

            Meadows from Stamford, Conn., began playing the clarinet and studying classical music at age 9. He followed his “Whisper” 2013 album with his current release “Soul City.”

 

LOLLI & POPS OPENS TWO MORE STORES IN LAS VEGAS

        Lolli & Pops, an expanding mass-premium candy company, opened its first Nevada location in the Fashion Show mall last January. It has now opened two new outlets inside the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian. One store is near the South Canal Turnaround on The Venetian side, and the second location is near the guest elevators on The Palazzo side on the shopping level.

 

MOB MUSEUM STARTS DAILY TOURS IN UNDERGROUND DISTILLERY

            The Mob Museum is now offering daily 30-minute tours in The Underground Distillery at 5 p.m. The $12 tour involves sampling a variety of distilled spirits, receiving an in-depth explanation of the distillery equipment and distillation process, and learning about Prohibition and the drinking culture prior to the 1920s. The Underground’s moonshine is as authentic as possible and tour participants have the option of purchasing souvenir bottles afterwards.
            Museum visitors may add-on a Distillery Tour to their admission at the box office. 

 

NOBU CELEBRATES FIVE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY AT CAESARS PALACE

            Nobu Hotel partners including Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, Robert De Niro, and Meir Teper celebrated the fifth anniversary of the world’s-first Nobu Hotel Caesars Palace with Caesars Entertainment management. With the milestone celebration came an announcement of a decade-long extension as well as refreshing 180-rooms and making innovative technology enhancements. In addition, a new spa treatment, Nobu GO, designed exclusively for Caesars Palace made its debut.

 

BROOKLYN BOWL PRESENTS FIVE-DAYS OF ENTERTAINMENT

            Brooklyn Bowl is holding five days of Jam Band and funk-packed programming Oct. 31-Nov. 3 sponsored by Ballast Point Brewing Company. The lineup includes a three-night run of late-night shows by The Disco Biscuits Nov. 1-3, and The Motet on Oct. 31. Doors will be opening at 11 p.m.

            The Lunch You In The Eye Bowling Tournament & PhanArt will be held Friday, Nov. 2 with doors opening at noon. PhanArt will return with more than two dozen artists exhibiting a wide array of Phish-inspired art, including posters, shirts and other apparel, pins, memorabilia and more. Brooklyn Bowl’s menu will be reimagined with a celebratory Phish theme. The bowling tournament is $99 per team, which can have up to eight players. The first-place prize is a $300 food and drink credit, VIP Box access for Keller Williams’ PettyGrass, and a Relix and Brooklyn Bowl prize pack. Second-place is the same minus the food-drink credit.

            The Keller Williams’ PettyGrass featuring The Hillbenders will take place Saturday, Nov. 3 with doors opening at 1 p.m. General admission tickets are $25.

 

GOLDSTROM’S CLASSIC CAR SHOW

            It’s an annual classic car event open to the public for free on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 5375 S. Cameron Street. Registration is $45 to display classic vehicles, muscle cars, street and hot rods, trucks, customs and motorcycles, and begins at 7 a.m. There will be vendor booths, a live auction, raffle drawings, entertainment, food but no alcohol or pets. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the private classic car collection will be open.

 

AUTO SHOW WILL SHOWCASE 2019 MODELS

            The 2019-Model Motor Trend International Auto Show will return with more than 350 of the latest automobile models from nearly 20 top manufacturers. Open to the public, the annual event will take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center Friday-Sunday, Nov. 23-25 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Halls N-3 and N-4. There will be free parking in Silver Lot 1. Admission is $10 for adults ages 13 and older; $8 for seniors 62 and older and military; and free for children 12 and under.

            This will be a good time to test-drive prospective new vehicles, compare vehicle features in a no-pressure environment, and view the latest in car technology. The Million Dollar Exotic Vehicle Display will showcase ultra-exotic vehicles, courtesy of Lamborghini Las Vegas and Royalty Exotics. Show-goers will also get the chance to view and experience a display of tricked-out and customized vehicles from the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show.

 

EL DORADO CANTINA HOSTS FIESTA HONORING DIA DE MUERTOS

            Mexican restaurant and bar El Dorado Cantina, which is close to the Strip on Sammy Davis Jr. Drive and open around-the-clock, will celebrate Dia de Muertos on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 1 and 2 from 7-10 p.m. with food and drink specials, face painting, live traditional Mexican music and prize giveaways. The prix-fixe three-course meal is $35. 

            Executive Chef Paco Cortes grew up in Mexico City. He embraces the holiday and emphasizes it a celebration to honor the dead and not a somber time. Guests who dine on Oct. 29 and 30 will receive a voucher for complimentary Pan de Muerto, which is the traditional bread of the dead, and hot guava drink, redeemable Nov. 1 and 2.

 

LAS VEGAS HOSTS ANNUAL DIA DE LOS MUERTOS FESTIVAL

        The city of Las Vegas will hold its annual family-friendly Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration Friday, Nov. 2, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Sammy Davis Jr. Festival Plaza in Lorenzi Park. This vibrant homage to life is a colorful holiday celebrated by Mexican and Latin American cultures.

            At this immersive atmosphere, there will be entertainment by Las Cafeteras, interactive children’s activities, artisan vendors, face-painting, special décor and an exhibition of altars. Food trucks will offer refreshments for sale. The free event is open to the public; parking is free.

 

CHEF SCOTT CONANT DEBUTS LINE OF SPREZZA PRODUCTS

            Locally Scott Conant is the chef and owner of Masso Osteria at Red Rock. He’s published three cookbooks including “Bold Italian” in 2008; and is frequently a guest judge on Food Network’s “Chopped,” guest on “Beat Bobby Flay,” and host of “Best Baker In America.”

            Now Conant has revealed his line of Sprezza products staring with a collection of nine sauces, spreads, olives including his Pomodoro Sauce. The chef partnered with Sogno Toscano – the globally recognized family farm in Bolgheri – to distribute his first line of Sprezza offerings, which are on sale on the website for Sogno Toscano.

 

CHEF SCOTT CONANT INITIATES COLLABORATIVE DINNER SERIES

            Chef Scott Conant is starting an exclusive dining series at his West Coast restaurants, featuring close friends from award-winning kitchens around the country.

Conant’s dinner series will begin Nov. 2 at his Phoenix restaurant, Mora Italian. “Chopped” alum and MasterChef judge, Chef Aarón Sánchez will join Conant for the second dinner collaboration at Masso Osteria inside Red Rock Resort on Nov. 13.

 

DINING NUGGETS

            Therapy restaurant in the Fremont East Entertainment District will serve its specialty Nachos Locos dish, made with blue corn tortilla chips, topped with braised chicken thighs, salsa, white cheddar cheese sauce, etc., for $13.95 on National Nachos Day, Tuesday, Nov. 6.

            Therapy will also go purple for the month of November in honor of Alzheimer’s Awareness Month with the limited release of a new $10 specialty cocktail, Purple Rain.

All proceeds from the drink will be donated to local nonprofit Keep Memory Alive.

            The three local Nacho Daddy locations will celebrate Dia de los Muertos with $5 shots of Don Julio tequila on Thursday, Nov. 1. On National Nachos Day, Tuesday, Nov. 6 the offer will be a choice of one of two flights of sharable nachos for $14.95 and $17.95.         

            PUB 365 inside the Tuscany now offers brunch on Sunday from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. featuring bottomless mimosas $12.

            Once again, a food day will not go unnoticed in Las Vegas. PT’s Taverns with 60 locations throughout the Las Vegas Valley and Nevada will recognize National Sandwich Day on Saturday, Nov. 3 by serving buffalo chicken bacon ranch sandwiches for $5. Sea salt French fries are an extra $2.

            Neighborhood steakhouse Andiron Steak & Sea in Downtown Summerlin will hold

a special prix fixe Shellfish Dinner on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 6:30 p.m. for $69 with an optional $25 beverage pairing. Reservations required and available online. 

            Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill in Downtown Summerlin has added to their Las Vegas Golden Knights-themed offerings with the chocolate puck-shaped treat. The restaurant sits across from City National Area, the Golden Knights training facility.

 

TECH N9NE SHOWCASES COLLABORATION BEER AT BROOKLYN BOWL

            Kansas City rap legend Tech N9ne’s new collaboration beer with Kansas City’s largest brewery, Boulevard Brewing Co., will be available in Las Vegas for the first time for his show at Brooklyn Bowl show Sunday, Oct. 28. Brooklyn Bowl will offer half-off Bou Lou beer before the show during the 5-7 p.m. happy hour. Koozie giveaways, photo and tasting opportunities with the Boulevard Girls will be available throughout the evening.

            Las Vegas rappers Dizzy Wright and Mike Xavier, and Futuristic will open the show. Krizz Kaliko will also join Tech onstage. Show tickets start at $32 with doors opening at 8 p.m.

 

MONSTER TRUCKS VISIT PAHRUMP

            The Monster Truck Insanity Tour is returning to Pahrump, Nev., with events on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 2 and 3.  Pit Parties are at 5:30 p.m. with shows at 7 p.m. at the Pahrump Valley Speedway. 

            This event features some of the biggest monster trucks along with the Titan Fuel Tanks Championship, side-by-side tough truck and UTV races for locals. For the first time in Pahrump, which is only an hour drive west of Las Vegas, a monster truck will attempt a backflip.

 

QUICK CLIPS

            Fly LINQ, the Strip’s first zipline, is scheduled to open to the public Friday, Nov. 9 with the grand opening at 11 a.m. Advance tickets are available now online. The attraction featuring 10 side-by-side ziplines will be launched from a 114-foot-tall tower, travel 1,121 feet through The LINQ Promenade, and land near the base of the High Roller observation wheel.

            Along with Cher’s new hit album, “Dancing Queen,” which was inspired by her role in the ABBA musical “Mamma Mia!” movie sequel, she has added nine shows from March 13 to 30 to her Park MGM residency.

            Montez De Durango as part of the new Wednesday Latin Series at the Star of the Desert Arena in Primm, Nev., will appear live on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 8 p.m. The group, based in Chicago, Ill., is known for their regional traditional Mexican music played over a 22-year career. In 2007, their album “Borron Y Cuenta Nueva” won a Billboard Award for Album of the Year. Tickets start at $20.

            Frankie Scinta has moved his show from the Plaza where “A Mob Story” took over to South Point. “Frankie Scinta: The Showman” with a seven-piece band, longtime drummer and honorary brother Pete O’Donnell, and vocalist Janien Valentine plays on select weekends at 3 p.m. Upcoming dates include Nov. 24-25 and Dec. 1-2.

            Adult female revue “Fantasy” at the Luxor will have a deal offering a complimentary deck of Fantasy-branded playing cards with the purchase of the $20 “The Golden Goddesses of Fantasy” 2019 calendar after the show on Black Friday, Nov. 23.  

            The next program in the National Atomic Testing Museum’s Distinguished Lecture Series will be a 30th Anniversary Joint Verification Experiment Kearsarge panel discussion on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 2:30 p.m. On Aug. 7, 1988, nuclear test Kearsarge detonated underground at the Nevada Test Site, marked the first nuclear collaboration between the United States and Soviet Union. TRAINED RESCUED DOGS WILL GO TO VETERANS IN NEED

            Have to say this nonprofit Those Left Behind (TLB) Foundation has created an all-around win-win program and will hold its inaugural Pups Prisoners and Patriots Handoff Ceremony on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 10 a.m. at 101 N. Pavilion Center Drive.

            TLB is a local animal rescue organization dedicated to helping unwanted pets find forever homes with veterans and the elderly. The program leverages the expert free training services provided by Nevada based inmates, who turn the pooches into much needed service animals. Six dogs will be handed off on this day and the public can attend.

 

SILVERTON HOSTS PUMPKIN PITCH EVENT

            The Southern Nevada Christmas Tree Recycling Committee is hosting its third annual free Pitch-a-Pumpkin recycling event on Sunday, Nov. 4 between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

            Collected pumpkins, which will be composted into soil, will be launched about 50 to 100 feet using catapults and a trebuchet in the Silverton Casino parking lot. All guests bringing a jack-o-lantern will receive a 2-for-1 coupon to dine at Seasons Buffet. The first guest to get a pumpkin into the bin will win $100 cash and all subsequent winners will receive a free buffet.
