‘LEGENDS IN CONCERT’ WILL LAUNCH NEW RESIDENCY AT TROPICANA

            The longest-running show in Las Vegas, “Legends in Concert,” will be moving down the Strip from the Flamingo to the Tropicana the second week of February 2019 to debut an all-new headlining residency. The musical tribute production will continue with its winning rotation formula and with an appealing 7 p.m. time slot.

 

            With “Legends in Concert” making its Las Vegas Strip debut in 1983, it gained a reputation as the pioneer of live tribute shows. The beginning shows only featured deceased stars and always ended with Elvis. As the multifaceted show continued to evolve, it added live artists. The show’s key ingredient is the tribute artists using their own natural voices, along with bonus elements including a live band, dancers, costumes and sets. The new show will feature a variety of elaborate theatrical sets, magnificent costumes and a full array of incredible special effects.

 

BRITNEY SPEARS RETURNS TO VEGAS WITH NEW RESIDENCY

            Next year, Britney Spears will return to Sin City with a new residency at Park Theater at Park MGM, joining Cher and new stars like Lady Gaga and Aerosmith appearing there. Spears’ new show “Domination” will start in February. This show follows her successful hit “Britney: Piece of Me,” which ended last December at Zappos Theater in Planet Hollywood.

 

THE 1975 WILL MAKE TOUR STOP AT THE HARD ROCK NEXT APRIL

            The 1975 band will kick off their North American 2019 tour with a Las Vegas-stop at The Joint inside the Hard Rock on Tuesday, April 16 with special guests Pale Waves and No Rome. On Nov. 30, The 1975 will release their third album, “A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships.”

 

Duran duran WILL VISIT COSMOPOLITAN NEXT FEBRUARY

            British music icons Duran Duran have announced a two-night engagement at The Chelsea inside The Cosmopolitan Friday and Saturday, Feb. 22-23, 2019. Tickets for their return visit start at $49.

 

            The new wave band was formed in Birmingham, England, in the early 80s. Four decades later, the global music stars Duran Duran have sold more 100 million records, had 18 American hit singles, and 20 UK chart toppers. Their 2015 album, “Paper Gods,” which made Billboard Top 10, is the band’s highest-charting release in 22 years.

 

PUDDLES PITY PARTY WILL VISIT CLEOPATRA’S BARGE NEXT YEAR

            Puddles Pity Party featuring the soft-hearted, seven-foot-tall singing clown who was a memorable quarter finalist on NBC’S “America’s Got Talent” will have his first artist residency with nine performances at Cleopatra’s Barge inside Caesars Palace. The limited engagement dates are Jan. 17-19, 24-26 and Feb. 7-9.

            Puddles’ set will consist of new material as well as classic, rarely performed songs. The entire show will be custom-designed to suit the intimate layout of Cleopatra’s Barge.

 

CARLOS SANTANA RESIDENCY CONTINUES AT HOUSE OF BLUES

            Carlos Santana will return to the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay on Oct. 31 with his remaining 2018 performances running through mid-November. Dates for 2019 in January, February and May will mark the seventh year of his intimate, live concert experience. Tickets start at $99.50.

 

BOBBY MAO’S OPENS AT GALLERIA AT SUNSET

            The Galleria at Sunset mall’s newest dining experience is Bobby Mao’s Chinese Kitchen + Mexican Cantina taking over the space formerly occupied by Chevys Fresh Mex at the main entrance next to Red Robin. This is the first location in Nevada for Bobby Mao’s, which offers a selection of Chinese and Mexican fare. Restaurateurs Bobby and wife Tina come from Palm Desert, Calif., where they operate Bobby Mao’s Chinese Kitchen.

 

            This spot has a main dining room bar and lounge space with TVs, couches, booths and a misted outdoor dog-friendly patio. In addition, every hour is Happy Hour with an expansive selection of specialty cocktails, including $10 Top Shelf Margaritas, $6 house wines as well as beer. Hours are daily starting at 11 a.m.

 

ETHEL M® TRANSFORMS CACTUS GARDEN INTO WINTER WONDERLAND

            Ethel M Chocolates’ 25th annual Holiday Cactus Ceremonial Lighting Event will take place Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Henderson factory. There will be seasonal performances from Las Vegas Philharmonic, George Wallace, Matt Goss, Penn & Teller, and Sound Collage. The three-acre cactus garden will be illuminated with a million holiday lights. In addition, guests will be able to take photos with Santa Claus, receive assorted seasonal samples, enter raffles, take a photo inside a giant snow globe, etc. 

            This event is open to the public. Tickets are available with a toy, food or monetary charity donation to select organizations.

            The Holiday Cactus Lights will sparkle from Nov. 6 through Sunday, Jan. 6 from 5-10 p.m., except on Christmas Day, Dec. 25 and until 8 p.m. on Dec. 24 and 31.

 

JONATHAN DAVIS UNVEILS MEMORABILIA CASE AT HARD ROCK

            Rocker Jonathan Davis, best known as the frontman of Korn, recently unveiled a dedicated memorabilia case at the Hard Rock on the casino floor adjacent to Goose Island Pub. The display includes Davis’ typical black “uniform,” an AllSaints t-shirt, jeans and cardigan, which he wore for an album release party of his 2018 solo album, “Black Labyrinth.” The outfit will also be viewed in an upcoming music video for “Basic Needs,” the second single from the album.

 

ELLIS ISLAND HAS TWO NEW BREW MASTERS

            Ellis Island Hotel, Casino and Brewery has two new accomplished brewers Michael Key, as director of brewery operations, and Eddie Leal, as head brewer. The two new brew masters are updating the brew program, debuting at least one new brew a month, and incorporating more diverse, unique beers into the brewery’s beer tap rotations.

            Recently, they launched a new Hefeweizen recipe featuring a traditional Bavarian style with hints of banana and cloves; and will introduce an exclusive Doppelbock this holiday season. Already they have incorporated more of a rotation for their dark beers, which have included an Irish dry stout, oatmeal stout and a brown porter.

 

‘FANTASY’ CELEBRATES 19TH ANNIVERSARY AND 2019 CALENDAR

            The gorgeous ladies of the sexy adult revue “Fantasy” at the Luxor recently celebrated the debut of the 2019 calendar, “The Golden Goddesses of FANTASY,” and honored the show’s 19th anniversary.  Lead singer Lorena Peril and comedy act Sean E Cooper happily remain with the production. The calendar showcases the cast wearing nothing but gold tape with a new, edgy look. Calendars are $20.

 

ACTOR COMEDIAN PAUL REISER VISITS ALIANTE

            Stand-up comedian Paul Reiser will headline the Access Showroom at Aliante on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $40.  

            Even though Reiser has been voted one of Comedy Central’s “Top 100 Comedians of All Time,” he’s readily recognized for his acting having spent the last 30-plus years of his career acting in Oscar and Emmy award-winning movies and TV shows. Reiser co-created and starred in the NBC series “Mad About You.” More recently, he has joined the cast of Netflix’s “Stranger Things” as the character Dr. Owens.

 

            Reiser has made notable performances in numerous films, including “Diner,” “Marrying Man,” “Beverly Hills Cop I and II” and the Golden Globe-winning and Academy Award-winning film “Whiplash.”

            As a creative individual, Reiser has authored three successful books, including “Familyhood,” “Babyhood” and his first book “Couplehood,” which sold more than two million copies and reached the number one spot on The New York Times bestseller list.

 

NEWS ON HALLOWEEN EVENTS

            For five nights, Oct. 27-31, Halloween will be celebrated at The LINQ Promenade. Nightly the “Monster’s Ball” stage show will start at the top of the hour from 4-7 p.m. Street Buskers will be 15-minute acts starting at 15 minutes after the hour from 8:15-10:30 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 27-28, there will be Triq or Treat from 2–6 p.m. with attendees visiting the mall’s tenants. There will be balloon artists and magicians from 2-6 p.m. On Oct. 27, there will be a 9 p.m. costume contest with awards including $15,000 in cash and prizes for best group and individual costumes.

 

            Topgolf Las Vegas is teaming up with the founders of Fright Dome, Egan Productions, to present the first Beer Witch Project for three nights of fears and beers, Oct. 25-27 from 7-10 p.m. on the top fourth floor. Five intricately-designed beer stations will have guests visiting: The Hospital from Hell; The Coven; The Zombie Quarantine; The Infestation; and trying to survive The Freak Show. On Saturday, Oct. 27 the person donning the best costume will win a special prize at the 9 p.m. contest. Tickets are $50 in advance, $60 day of the show.

 

            The first Spooky Ball will be held at Andiron Steak & Sea in Downtown Summerlin on Friday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. with a live DJ, fortune teller, photo booth, Halloween-inspired cocktails, and an array of food stations and devilish desserts. Costume attire is strongly suggested. Tickets are $79.

 

            Alto Bar at Caesars Palace will be having a Day of The Dead themed party Oct. 27 starting at 9 p.m. with a DJ, décor, models, Avion drink specials and a costume contest at midnight with cash prizes and giveaways.

 

            VISTA Cocktail Lounge at Caesars Palace will again be hosting their Yelloween party in conjunction with Veuve Clicquot on Friday, Oct. 26 and Saturday, Oct. 27 starting at 9 p.m.

 

            Carnaval Court at Harrah’s on Saturday, Oct. 27 and Wednesday, Oct. 31, will hold the Sexiest and most Creative Halloween Costume Contests for a chance to win a bar tab at the VIP Yelloween experience featuring Veuve Clicquot.

 

            The Heart Bar at Planet Hollywood on Saturday, Oct. 27 will have a costume contest to show off the sexiest or most creative costume with the winner receiving a bar tab and bragging rights. 
            VooDoo Rooftop Nightclub & Lounge at Rio will have a Day of the Dead themed party with costume contests for a chance to win a table and bottle on Oct. 27 and Oct. 31.

 

            Five neighborhood Remedy’s and Distill spots will celebrate with a property-wide Halloween Party on Saturday, Oct. 27 starting at 7 p.m. with live music, a costume contest to win cash.

 

            Walker Furniture store at 301 S. Martin Luther King Blvd. will host its annual Chanh Boupha Pumpkin Carving Event on Saturday, Oct. 27 from noon to 2 p.m. with free face painting (11 a.m.-2 p.m.) and free hot dogs and soda (11 a.m.-3 p.m.) in the Walker Furniture Atrium. Guests will have a chance to win one of two professionally carved 80-pound pumpkins done in full view by Chef Boupha.

 

            Pawn Plaza on Las Vegas Blvd. next to the famous “Pawn Stars” shop will provide a safe Trick or Treat event on Halloween, Oct. 31, for children. Every tenant at Pawn Plaza will be passing out candy to trick or treaters from 3–6 p.m.

 

            PT’s Taverns will host Halloween parties at 26 of its 60 locations throughout Las Vegas Valley and Nevada through Saturday, Nov. 3. PT’s Gold at 690 S. Green Valley Pkwy. in Henderson will celebrate on Friday, Oct. 27 with live entertainment, a photobooth, costume contests, specials and a buffet. PT’s Pub at 310 E. Warm Springs Rd. will host a Halloween party on Saturday, Nov. 3 featuring karaoke, themed cocktails and costume contests with prizes for the best, most creative and scariest costumes.

            Retired NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal is opening his new Big Chicken restaurant on Oct. 23 in space formerly occupied by Origin India on Paradise Road near the Hard Rock Hotel. The house specialty will be crispy chicken sandwiches served on brioche buns. In addition, the basketball legend is working on a new eight-episode reality show for Facebook Watch about opening Big Chicken.

 

            Singing superstar P!NK and husband Carey Hart recently dined at Jenna and Michael Morton’s Downtown restaurant La Comida at 100 Sixth Street.

 

            Keith Norman, South Point’s Assistant Executive Chef and Food Safety Manager, has released his first book, “Allergen Awareness: A Chef’s Perspective.” The book, available for $31.83 online at Amazon, is a tell-all guide for proper food safety measures for both industry professionals and the 15 million folks suffering from food allergies.

            The Mob Museum celebrated its two millionth visitor this month by surprising an unsuspecting guest with fanfare. Sylvia Geitner from Munich, Germany, was presented a key to Museum along with a lifetime membership, a proclamation from Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman, and a toast led by Former Mayor Oscar B. Goodman.

 

            The Las Vegas Review-Journal’s 2018 “Best of Las Vegas” awards named “Xavier Mortimer’s Magical Dream” in the Sin City Theatre at Planet Hollywood “Best Magic Show.” The other two honorees in the category included fellow Strip headliners Piff the Magic Dragon and Mat Franco.

LAS VEGAS BALLPARK HELD TOPPING OFF CEREMONY

            The Howard Hughes Corporation® recently held a topping off ceremony hoisting a beam in place for the Las Vegas Ballpark®, a new Triple-A baseball stadium under construction. The topping off ceremony was just days after the Las Vegas 51s, the city’s professional baseball team and member of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), announced the team’s two-year Player Development Contract with the Oakland A’s. The team will play its home, season and stadium opener at Las Vegas Ballpark next year on April 9 against the Sacramento River Cats.

 

SILVERTON IS PLANNING TO BUILD A PROPERTY IN PAHRUMP

 

            The Silverton is planning to expand its brand to Pahrump with the Silverton Ranch Hotel and Casino slated for construction on 7.56 acres off State Route 160 at the Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, a private racetrack facility. The proposed project will include a five-story, 125-room hotel, 30,100-square-foot casino, pool, outdoor entertainment space, restaurant, lounge, coffee shop and meeting room, according to plans submitted to the commission. Construction will begin in August 2019, with completion slated for September 2020. Silverton Ranch would be the sixth unrestricted casino in town, joining the Pahrump Nugget, Gold Town, Lakeside RV Park and Casino, Terrible’s Road House and Saddle West.
