LAS VEGAS BALLPARK PLANNED AT DOWNTOWN SUMMERLIN®
The Howard Hughes Corporation® (NYSE: HHC) will be developing and constructing a baseball stadium in Downtown Summerlin® on approximately eight acres near the City National Arena, which is the National Hockey League practice facility for the new Vegas Golden Knights. The new 10,000-fan-capacity Las Vegas Ballpark stadium will be the future home of the Las Vegas 51s, the city’s professional baseball team. The team, a member of the Pacific Coast League (PCL) and a Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, is now wholly owned by The Howard Hughes Corporation.
The ballpark will provide a wide range of seating options including 22 suites, club seats, berm seating, party zones and decks, picnic tables, kids’ zone, bars and even a pool beyond the outfield wall. In addition to serving as the home of the Las Vegas 51s, Las Vegas Ballpark will host civic, community, nonprofit and sporting events.
FRANK MARINO’S ‘DIVAS LAS VEGAS’ CELEBRATES EIGHT YEARS
Las Vegas’ longest-running headliner Frank Marino and his “Divas Las Vegas” cast of female impersonators are celebrating eight years with Caesars Entertainment. In addition, Marino announced the show has signed a multi-year extension to continue at The LINQ Hotel & Casino.
The Divas’ show is offering an all-new drink package, including tickets and a free drink served in a special souvenir cup.
Currently scheduled to air in March on ITV, Marino and the cast are in the midst of filming a reality show, “Last Laugh in Vegas,” where Marino helps a group of British celebrities transform into Vegas headliners and put on a show.
“Divas” is performed at 4 p.m., 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on various dates. Tickets start at $24.99.
VOODOO AT RIO CELEBRATES 20 YEARS
To mark the VooDoo Steak & Rooftop Nightclub’s 20th anniversary at the Rio, the club will hold a ‘90s themed party on Saturday, Oct. 21 with throwback music and a special performance from rapper Tone Loc, best known for his hits, “Wild Thing” and “Funky Cold Medina.”
In addition, VooDoo Steak will offer a special anniversary three-course tasting menu on Saturday, Oct. 21 for $65, plus $40 for spirit pairings.
JW MARRIOTT REVEALS TWO NEW MEETING VENUES
JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa has unveiled two new modern meeting spaces – Palms Executive Conference Center and Cascade.
The Palms Executive Conference Center in the Palms Tower with a level of privacy and exclusivity delivers more than 15,000 square feet of customizable indoor/outdoor and pre-function space with natural light, including the Parian Room which can accommodate 50-200 guests, and nine breakout rooms to house 10-100 guests.
Pre-function space throughout the new center features an expansive patio area surrounded by lush greenery and waterfalls. Additionally, the new space is designed to be ecologically “green.”
Just off the casino floor, event venue Cascade boasts more than 10,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor space with an open floorplan and modern design.
This month’s edition of “Third Thursday on 3rd” on Oct. 19 from 6–10 p.m. will be Halloween-themed “Freak the Street” with festive food trucks, spooky live art installation, kids pumpkin art battle, costume contests, face painting and “truck or treating.” Admission is free and adults will have a chance to win $1,000 in cash for best costume.
Opportunity Village will introduce its first fundraising Pumpkin Paws at HallOVeen, promising a howlin’ good time, on Sunday, Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the nonprofit’s 6300 West Oakey Campus. The inaugural event for furry friends will include costume contests, pet-friendly rides, photo ops, and free admission for pets in the “spookified” Magical Forest. Admission is $5 for human companions at the gate, with ride tickets extra.
The Springs Preserve’s annual Haunted Harvest is taking place Oct. 20-22 and Oct. 27-29 from 5-9 p.m. The family-friendly event features trick or treat stations, carnival games and circus activities, a petting zoo, crafts, and live entertainment. Admission is $8, free for children ages 2 and under, and 50 percent off for Springs Preserve members.
Walker Furniture will host the Chanh Boupha Pumpkin Carving Event on Saturday, Oct. 28 from noon to 2 p.m. with free face painting and free hot dogs and soda from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Walker Furniture Atrium. Guests will have a chance to win one of two professionally carved 80 to 100-pound pumpkins done in full view by Chef Boupha.
“Frankenstein by Nick Dear,” based on the novel by Mary Shelley, is being presented by the Cockroach Theatre Company at the Art Square Theatre through Oct. 29 at 8 p.m. Childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein’s bewildered creature is cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker. Ticket range is $15-$25.
Henderson’s fourth annual Zombie Run 5K will take place at 6 p.m. on Oct. 21 at Cornerstone Park, 1600 Wigwam Pkwy. The non-competitive Halloween-themed fun run is open to people of all abilities and fitness levels and encourages wearing costumes. Early registration is $35 through Oct. 20, and $40 at the event.
Wet’n’Wild is offering two free same-day tickets to first responders for Halloweenville from Friday, Oct. 20 to Tuesday, Oct. 31 starting at 5:30 p.m. and depending on park occupancy.
At the Italian American Club, the F.I.O.R.E. group will hold “A Politically Incorrect Party” on Friday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. The Halloween theme encourages wearing a scary or politically incorrect costume. Tickets are $25, which includes a dinner buffet and live entertainment.
MOB MUSEUM EXTENDS ‘SIP + SAVOR’ TASTINGS THROUGH OCTOBER
The Mob Museum has extended its “Sip + Savor” Blind Spirits Tastings held on Saturdays from 2 to 5 p.m. through October. The 15-minute presentation offers blind tastings of four different distilled beverages, sponsored by Johnson Brothers of Nevada.
Museum educators share information about the history of Prohibition, how the spirits are made, what flavor profiles are associated with each, and how to use the nose and palate to get the most enjoyment out of each spirit. Cost per tasting is $5 in addition to admission prices.
In addition, anyone interested can learn more about Prohibition by logging onto The Mob Museum’s permanent digital exhibit, “Prohibition: An Interactive History.”
VARIETY OF TIDBITS
The comedy show “Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man” at Paris starring Kendra Wilkinson, Jai Rodriguez, and Chris Hodgson celebrated its 100th performance at Paris last week. The cast was surprised before the show with a cake presentation. The show was an unexpected hit in New York City before opening in Las Vegas earlier this year.
On Saturday, Oct. 7, more than 700 cars and bikes took over a parking lot at M Resort for the #VegasStrong Charity Car Meet and raised more than $22,000 for the Las Vegas Victims’ Fund. The M Resort donated the beverage sales and matched the total proceeds giving an additional $28,000 to the National Compassion Fund Las Vegas.
The new multi-year snack deal at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway is to make California-based Gnarly Jerky its official beef jerky for all of the property’s major events like the NHRA Toyota Nationals, Oct. 26-29.
In honor of National Domestic Violence Awareness month, celebrity colorist and COLOR Salon of Caesars Palace owner Michael Boychuck has partnered with local Shade Tree to raise funds through the sale of his Boychuck beauty brush collections. Through Oct. 31, 30 percent of all online profits will go towards Shade Tree.
“Spin-trepreneur” Jen Barnet and yoga innovator Dray Gardner known for his work with Silent Savasana have combined efforts to introduce a new approach to yoga with XENXEN, opening in Boca Park on Monday, Oct. 16. Introductory classes for Las Vegas locals are free from Oct. 16 to 22.
Las Vegas’ first mermaid school, Aquamermaid, opened last week. The swimming school will teach kids and adults how to swim with a mermaid tail and is an interesting activity for bachelorette parties.
RICK MICHEL WILL APPEAR ON ‘INTERNATIONAL HOUSE HUNTERS’
Had a phone call from Las Vegas celebrity, resident and friend Rick Michel with exciting news. He and his wife Leslie now have a second home in Puerto Morelos, Mexico. Having the two homes, they were among around 100 folks selected out of some 70,000 entries to appear on HGTV’s “International House Hunters.” This month they filmed a Las Vegas-segment at the Bootlegger with Michel performing and will film him also on stage at Moon Palace (Grand Palace Theater) in Mexico where he appears every Wednesday night with a seven–piece big band. When “International House Hunters” airs in a few months, it will also show both homes and have Michel singing his original song “Witness to My Journey.”
ETHEL M CELEBRATES NATIONAL CHOCOLATE DAY ON OCT. 28
In honor of National Chocolate Day, Ethel M Chocolates in Henderson will be giving visitors and online shoppers a sweet surprise. On Oct. 28, the gourmet confectionery company will give complimentary chocolate tasting experiences to visitors at their flagship store and will offer online shoppers eight extra chocolate bars to the first 100 online purchases.

Hakkasan Group has announced a Benefit Concert for Oct. 1 victims to take place on Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 9:30 p.m. at OMNIA Nightclub inside Caesars Palace. The fundraiser will feature headliners Tiësto, Zedd, Kaskade, Steve Aoki, Lil Jon, and many more. Tickets start at $30.
Gaining fame on “America’s Got Talent,” iLuminate, which applies a seamless combination of technology and dance to create a visual display and tell a story, will appear at The Smith Center on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $24-$79.
The 102.7 The Coyote’s Fan Jam 16 featuring country acts the trio Midland and Waterloo Revival will appear at Club Madrid inside Sunset Station on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m.

To help mark the Neon Museum’s fifth birthday, the park will be offering free admission on Oct. 28 from 1–7 p.m. along with special events. Celebrating the Day of the Dead, flowers will be used to decorate an alter created by artist Favela in memory of prominent sign designer Raul Rodriguez, who drafted the Flamingo sign residing in the Boneyard. Family Fiesta presented by Favela is from 1-4 p.m.
Legendary R&B Vocal Group The Whispers, with the current lineup including original members Wallace Scott and Walter Scott, as well as Leaveil Degree, will bring their timeless hits such as “Rock Steady” to Eastside Cannery’s Event Center on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $22.95.
Singer-songwriter Clint Holmes will bring his silky vocals and smooth dance moves to Suncoast Showroom on Saturdays, Oct. 28 and Nov. 25 at 8:30 p.m. Early this year, Holmes released his new album “Rendezvous,” which reinterprets modern day classic pop hits, soulful R&B and theatrical tunes. ZELZAH SHINERS PRESENT NINE CIRCUS SHOWS AT BOULEVARD MALL
Zelzah Shriners of Las Vegas will present its fundraising 68th Annual Zelzah Shrine Circus “Under the Big Top” at the Boulevard Mall at the corner of Twain and Maryland Parkway with outstanding specialty acts and special appearances by master magician Lance Burton.
There will be three shows daily on Oct. 20, 21 and 22 at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 for ages 12 and older, $10 for 3-12, and free for 3 years and under.

Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer will open its newest location this winter at The Venetian adjacent to the poker room and feature patio dining overlooking the resort’s outdoor canals. It will be Black Tap’s first expansion in the United States beyond its four New York locations. The restaurant with its signature CrazyShakes™ is helmed by Michelin-starred chef Joe Isidori and lauded restaurateur and nightclub developer Chris Barish.
Owned by husband-and-wife team Jaret and Tami Blinn, CRAFTkitchen in Henderson will celebrate its two-year anniversary on Oct. 27. From 11 a.m.-9 p.m., the restaurant will serve complimentary cupcakes to dine-in guests while supplies last. On Oct. 28-29 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., CRAFTkitchen will present an “all-star brunch” featuring some of customers’ favorite brunch items including birthday cake pancakes.
Carson Kitchen located Downtown unveiled a fresh, newly expanded and renovated space. Keeping the original industrial-inspired décor, the three-year old neighborhood urban dining hot spot now includes an all-new welcoming entryway, bar and lounge, plus additional seating throughout.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Boyd Gaming debuted a limited-edition fruit-infused brew called Red Rose at Triple 7 Restaurant & Brewery at Main Street Station. The brew is available for purchase at Triple 7, Bailiwick at The Orleans, and The Game at Suncoast, while supplies last. With every $5 purchase of a 16-ounce pint, Boyd Gaming will donate $2 to St. Rose Dominican Health Foundation’s local R.E.D. Rose Program.
B&B Hospitality Group’s Las Vegas restaurants have new happy hour and cicchetti menus at Carnevino Italian Steakhouse (3-6 p.m.), OTTO Enoteca e Pizzeria (3-5 p.m.) and B&B Ristorante (4-6 p.m.).
Salud Mexican Bistro and Tequileria located at The Lakes just introduced a new ¡Vamos a Brunch! on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. showcasing conventional Mexican cuisine with a modern flair.
Herringbone at Aria will host a special five-course dinner and wine pairing Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. The menu served will be the same as the one Herringbone founding Chef Brian Malarkey and the culinary team brought earlier this month to one of the James Beard Foundation's most notable events - A Beard House Dinner in New York City. Cost is $125.
