PEYOTE AND CHEAPSHOT PARTNER FOR DOWNTOWN EXPERIENCE

 

Corner Bar Management’s desert oasis restaurant and bar, Peyote, and irreverent new showroom and discotheque, Cheapshot, have unveiled a Downtown dinner and a show experience showcasing Latin American cuisine, late-night laughs and more every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

 The experience begins on Peyote’s patio garden with a three-course, prix fixe menu created by Executive Chefs Daniel Arias and Isidro Marquez-Castillo.

  Following dinner, the evening continues steps away at Cheapshot with classic cocktails in an intimate showroom and discotheque. At 7 p.m., the “Miss Behave’s Mavericks” show starts with maestro of entertainment, Amy Saunders leading the high-speed cornucopia of comedy, burlesque, circus and singing acts.

 Peyote and Cheapshot’s Downtown experience costs $99 per person.  

 

DREAM HOTEL BUILDS WHILE TEXAS AND FIESTAS CLOSE FOR GOOD

 

Las Vegas ever changing hotel landscape now has a new hotel/casino building being built on the south end of the Strip, while Station Casinos permanently closes three properties. All were affected by the pandemic.

Dream Hotel Group revealed plans to build a hotel casino back in 2020 with construction to begin in early 2021. Covid-19 altered those plans until now with construction underway on a 5.25-acre plot of land by the Welcome to Las Vegas sign and situated between the Pinball Hall of Fame and Harley Davidson store. The 19-story Dream Las Vegas will feature 526 rooms and suites when it's completed in the third quarter 2024. 

                Additional amenities will include gaming, dining and nightlife venues, pool deck, retail experiences, full-service spa, fitness center, and 12,000 square feet of private meeting and event space.

                Station Casinos three properties Texas Station and neighboring Fiesta Rancho along with Fiesta Henderson have remained closed since the start of the pandemic. The company’s final decision is for all three to be permanently closed, demolished and for the land to be sold. Combined there is a total of 107.5 acres, which will most likely go to developers.

 

ILLUMINARIUM ULTRA-LOUNGE EXPANDS NIGHTLIFE OFFERINGS

 

Illuminarium Las Vegas at AREA15 has amplified its nightlife programming with an all-new upbeat experience – “Ultra-Lounge,” showcasing unique entertainment programming. Illuminarium’s 21-and-over offerings are available nightly, with the popular After Dark available on weekdays Sunday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to midnight and the new Ultra-Lounge bringing an extraordinary environment on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.

        The Ultra-Lounge offers an elevated atmosphere by surrounding guests in visual one-of-a-kind digital environments. Synced to the beats of a live DJ and enhanced by state-of-the-art 3D Beamed audio, the trendy lounge takes sound and nightlife to the next level with over 5,000 in-wall speakers and 141 in-floor vibrating haptics. Along with cocktails, the Ultra-Lounge offers two different music experiences in each room.

        From Sunday through Thursday, After Dark transforms Illuminarium’s daytime attraction experience into an adults-only escape, allowing guests to delight in a full bar and signature cocktails, as they are transported to awe-inspiring destinations including the surface of the moon with SPACE After Dark.

 

NORWAY’S ESPEN JORSTAD IS WORLD SERIES OF POKER® CHAMPION

 

        After nine days of intense Main Event play, Norway’s Espen Jorstad solidified his place in poker history as the first-ever World Series of Poker (WSOP®) Champion to be crowned on the Las Vegas Strip. Defeating 8,662 players from around the world, Jorstad took home $10 million in earnings and the newly designed Main Event bracelet, which is custom created from 500 grams of 10 karat white and yellow gold, featuring 55.5 karats or 2,767 various precious stones including rubies, and black and white diamonds. 

On Saturday afternoon, Jorstad outlasted Adrian Attenborough and Michael Duekat the Final Table. Duek, 23-years-old, took home third place, with a total of $4 million in dramatic victory when he revealed his winning hand – a full house. Jorstad’s win cements the global dominance in poker’s World Championship – marking the fourth consecutive win by an international player.

 

MINUS5º ICEBAR AT LINQ PROMENADE HOSTS CHRISTMAS IN JULY

 

        Minus5º ICEBAR at The LINQ Promenade will celebrate Christmas in July on Thursday, July 28 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The immersive ice attraction will use snow machines on the outdoor patio to create a festive atmosphere, snowman building activities and a snowball toss with Minus5º ICEBAR’s penguin and yeti characters. A snow cone eating contest and photo opportunities with Santa Claus dressed in his festive summer wardrobe will be part of the celebration.


        Attendees are invited to savor ice cold treats such as Minus5º ICEBAR’s made-from-scratch sorbet collection. For $12.25, guests can partake in a holiday-themed sorbet tasting game as they try to guess all four flavors.

        In addition, guests 21 years or older can enjoy a Christmas-inspired menu of chilly cocktails available for $12.25 each, including the Holly Jolly Cocktail, Holiday Mai Tai, and Drunken Snowman. The “Cool Package” for entry into the ice attraction will be discounted to $12.25 per person throughout the day.

 

LAUREN DAIGLE WILL MAKE ONE-NIGHT STOP AT RESORTS WORLD

 

        Two-time GRAMMY Award winner and multi-platinum selling artist, Lauren Daigle, announced additional performances this fall including a stop in Las Vegas on Saturday, Sept. 24, at Resorts World Theatre. The exclusive show will feature Daigle’s extensive award-winning catalog including the 5x platinum “You Say,” “Hold On To Me,” and “How Can It Be” as well as some new music. Newcomer Blessing Offor will join Daigle in Las Vegas. Tickets go on sale July 22.

        Since the release of her GRAMMY Award winning, platinum certified album “Look Up Child,” Daigle has carved a place for herself as the most formidable artist in her genre. Daigle has earned seven Billboard Music Awards, five American Music Awards, secured two Guinness World Records, and sold-out concert venues all over the world.

 

COUNTRY STAR JIMMIE ALLEN VISITS SUNSET AMPHITHEATER

 

        Jimmie Allen, who has been taking country music by storm, will be center stage at the Sunset Amphitheater at Sunset Station on Friday, July 29 at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $27.50.

       A native of Southern Delaware, Allen has gone from living in his car to receiving his first Academy of Country Music Award nomination for New Male Artist of the Year in 2019 and a Country Music Association Award nomination for New Artist of the Year in 2020.
       In 2021, Allen was named the ACM’s New Male Artist of the Year, becoming the first Black artist to win that category since its inception. The monumental year included receiving the only country nomination in an all-genre category for the Grammy Awards, releasing his latest star-studded collaboration album “Bettie James Gold Edition,” and publishing his first children’s book, “My Voice Is a Trumpet.”

Additional accomplishments are reaching the quarterfinals of the 30th season of “Dancing With The Stars,” serving as executive music producer for the Netflix series, “Titletown High,” performing at the Kennedy Center Honors in tribute to Garth Brooks, launching the inaugural Bettie James Fest in his hometown of Milton, and appearing on Elton John’s newest album, “The Lockdown Sessions,” with the track “Beauty In The Bones.”

 

INTERNATIONAL SINGER DONDINO RETURNS TO ITALIAN AMERICAN CLUB

 

        Legendary Las Vegas singer Dondino will bring his vintage showmanship back to the Italian American Club on Wednesday, Aug. 10 with an 8 p.m. show following a buffet dinner starting at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $65.

        Dondino will perform his one-man show with an original band. Las Vegas residents are familiar with him from his 13 years headlining at the Four Queens downtown on Fremont Street. Worldwide audiences know him from performing at The Dondino Theater in Branson, Atlantis Resort in Atlantic City, Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Riviera in Palm Springs or around the globe, including the Latin Quarter in Japan. Dondino with his vocal power and Italian charisma will deliver a mix of popular standards as well as new and original compositions. He was born in Puglia, Italy, and moved to Brooklyn, New York, at age 10. Three years later, he made his stage performing debut.

 

HOUSE OF BLUES ADDS MORE GOSPEL BRUNCH DATES

 

The popular all-you-can-eat House of Blues Gospel Brunch at Mandalay Bay returned to the music hall in April this year. The 10 a.m. Sunday performances have been selling out resulting in extra dates including Aug. 7, Sept. 11 and added Oct. 9 and 23, Nov. 20 and 27, and Dec. 4 and 11.

        House of Blues Gospel Brunch has been a staple of Sunday morning family entertainment around the country for more than two decades. Each location features a rotating cast of the area’s gospel and R&B talents delivering traditional and contemporary gospel songs. 

        The all-you-can-eat Gospel Brunch is a non-denominational, immersive celebration of gospel music with a buffet menu. Adults 21 and older can participate with create-your-own Bloody Mary and mimosa bars.

 

RICHARD MARX HEADLINES AT GREEN VALLEY RANCH

 

Performer, songwriter and producer Richard Marx will headline the Grand Events Center at Green Valley Ranch on Friday, July 29 at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $30.

        Over Marx’s nearly three-decade-long career, he has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, starting with his self-titled debut which spawned four Top 5 singles, including “Don’t Mean Nothing” earning him a Grammy nomination for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance. The follow-up, 1989’s “Repeat Offender,” hit No. 1 and went quadruple platinum with two No. 1 singles in “Satisfied” and "Right Here Waiting.” To this day, Marx is the only male artist in history to have his first seven singles reach the Top 5 on the Billboard charts.

        Marx has also written on a No. 1 single in each of the last four decades, an accolade previously only reached by Michael Jackson. He has written with numerous artists, including “To Where You Are,” the first hit single from Josh Groban’s debut album, and the NSYNC smash, “This I Promise You.” He went on to earn a 2004 Song of the Year Grammy for co-authoring Luther Vandross’ “Dance with My Father.” Overall, he has scored 14 No. 1 singles, both as a performer and as a songwriter/producer.

 

BLACKBEAR BRINGS ‘NOTHING MATTERS TOUR’ TO BROOKLYN BOWL

 

        Multi-platinum selling singer, songwriter and producer blackbear will take over the Brooklyn Bowl stage on Friday, Sept. 23 as a stop on his “nothing matters tour.” Featuring special guests Waterparks and Heart Attack Man, the show will bring the entertainer’s forthcoming sixth studio album, “in loving memory” to life. Tickets start at $39.50.

        After hitting the road earlier this year as part of Machine Gun Kelly’s “Mainstream Sellout Tour,” blackbear is returning for his first headlining run since 2019. Featuring multi-platinum hits like “idfc,” “do re mi,” and “hot girl bummer” in addition to his latest singles “gyf” featuring Machine Gun Kelly and “the idea” from his forthcoming album, blackbear will showcase his evolution.

 

‘LA ÚLTIMA PARADA TOUR’ WILL VISIT VIRGIN HOTELS

 

        Rancheras singer/songwriter and actress Paquita la del Barrio will be joined by pop sensation Marisela and Lorenzo de Monteclaro for the “La Última Parada Tour,” which will headline The Theater at Virgin Hotels on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $69.99.

        Paquita la del Barrio became a celebrity after she moved from her native Veracruz to Mexico City in 1970. Her live performance, mainly based on feminist songs, seduced followers from around the country. She was nominated for a GRAMMY® in 2013 for Best Regional Mexican Music Album and has become one of the most interesting local personalities in Mexico. La del Barrio received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Billboard Latin Music Awards in 2021.

Platinum blonde Latin pop sensation Marisela continues to be an icon nearly four decades after her debut, living up to her reputation as the Latin Madonna with racy performances and her signature girly vocal style.

 

DOWNTOWN SUMMERLIN® PUBLIC MURAL WILL TRANSFORM GARAGE

 

        The Howard Hughes Corporation®, developer of the Summerlin® master planned community, has selected Southern Nevada artist Bonnie Kelso to create the largest public mural in Downtown Summerlin®. Kelso’s design being installed the first week of August will transform the north- and west-facing exterior walls of the parking garage of 1700 Pavilion—the 10-story Class-A office tower slated to open in the fall of this year. The mural, which is designed in panels to accommodate the open spaces between parking levels, measures more than 120 feet long and more than 54 feet wide on both sides.

        Kelso was chosen from more than 20 artists. Her design for the new mural was selected for its original perspective allowing guests walking past the building to enjoy a different visual experience than what is viewed from afar. Kelso’s design with clean simplicity and use of color reflects the nearby Red Rock Canyon.

        Kelso attended the Rhode Island School of Design. After graduation, she worked for many years as an exhibit designer, contributing to projects for NASA, National Geographic, the Newseum, and the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. Now as a local, she active with the Las Vegas Artist Guild and First Friday scene. 

 

DOWNTOWN CONTAINER PARK DEBUTS ZUMBA ‘FITNESS ON THE LAWN’

 

        Downtown Container Park is adding a monthly Zumba class to its “Fitness on The Lawn” series. Every third Thursday of the month beginning this week on July 21 from 7 to 8 p.m. guests are invited to work their body and dance to the latest hits with complimentary Zumba on The Lawn. 

        Sponsored by community partners Chiroprac-Ted and Jaqueline Andrea, this complimentary monthly Zumba series will feature special guest instructors from around the city, themes and exciting surprises.

LV MINI GRAND PRIX CELEBRATES 30 YEARS WITH BIRTHDAY BASH

 

Las Vegas Mini Grand Prix (LVMGP), Vegas Valley’s premier family fun center with seven-acres featuring Go Karts, amusement rides, arcade games and food, is celebrating its 30-year anniversary with a public birthday bash on Saturday, July 30.

        The celebration kicks off at 10 a.m. Festivities will include face painting, balloon artists, caricature sketches, and a live DJ. All patrons who purchase a 60-minute unlimited Race & Ride wristband will receive an additional 30-minutes free by whispering “Happy Birthday” at check-in!

        To close out the festivities, Las Vegas Mini Grand Prix will announce the winner of its month-long social media contest and award one lucky fan a year’s worth of free races. JOSS STONE PERFORMANCE AT RED ROCK HAS BEEN POSTPONED

 

       Due to Covid, Grammy and British award-winning Joss Stone had to postpone his show originally scheduled for July 15 at Red Rock Casino. A new date will be forthcoming for next year. Meanwhile refunds are available from the point of purchase. The other option is original tickets will be valid for the rescheduled date.

 

CABO WABO CANTINA WILL CELEBRATE BEER DAY WITH SPECIALS

 

        Cabo Wabo Cantina, located inside the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood, will celebrate International Beer Day on Friday, Aug. 5 with happy hour specials and draft beer selections. During the fiesta, happy hour specials will be available, including half-off draft beer, margaritas, sangrias and select appetizers from 3 to 5 p.m.
