Lettermen – The Lettermen performed a week ago at Southpoint and after 50 years of singing so many songs which we all know, they are still going strong. Tony Butala who is the founding member of the group is the last of the original trio and he is still going strong. Tony is joined by Donovan Tea and Mark Preston, who have both been with the group for 26 years. The Lettermen first performed in Las Vegas in 1958 at the Desert Inn. When I Fall In Love, The Way You Look Tonight, Up, Up And Away, Put Your Head On My Shoulder – were all hits the packed Southpoint Showroom were singing.

What amazed me was what a merchandise marketing machine they have developed. Pat and her Southpoint showroom crew were like traffic cops, directing people after the show to buy merchandise (CD’s, Photos, t-shirts, golf balls, etc), get autographs, and have pictures taken with the trio. This is one very smart group who gets it! Fans want to buy stuff after a show and when you treat them with respect – sign autographs and take pictures – then you they will spend lots of money for the chance to meet you and get to say ‘Hello’. I am still amazed at the number of entertainers who I see, big names here on the strip as well, who care less about meeting their fans and also all the money they are losing by not having merchandise available after their show. Great job Lettermen – and thanks for connecting with your fans!!
