TAYLOR DAYNE PERFORMS AT THE SILVERTON
National recording artist Taylor Dayne will appear in the Veil Pavilion at the Silverton on Saturday, March 16 at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $25.
Dayne’s career spans three decades of gathering along the way hit tunes such as, “Tell It To My Heart,” “Love Will Lead You Back,” “Prove Your Love,” “I’ll Always Love You,” and many others. Last year, Dayne celebrated her 30-year anniversary release of “Tell It To My Heart,” and a memoir with the song as its title is anticipated.
THE MIRAGE WILL HOST BLAST FROM THE PAST MUSIC SHOW
Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox Hideaway will be a new show starting up at The Mirage beginning Friday, April 12. It will run weekly Tuesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. in the 1 OAK Nightclub, which becomes the hideaway. Tickets start at $39.99.
Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox (PMJ) is a show known for transporting audiences into different decades of music with their art of mixing mainstream songs with old-school classic flare with guests encouraged to wear vintage-inspired clothing. The new hideaway show is being promoted as a can’t-miss interactive blast from the past unlike any prior PMJ shows. There will be a rotating cast of PMJ All-Stars thus creating a new experience nightly.
Creator Bradlee’s description is “pop music in a time machine.” Starting in 2009, his Postmodern Jukebox has gone on to amass more than 1.1 billion YouTube views with 3.8 million subscribers and more than 1.9 million fans on Facebook. For the past five years PMJ has toured the world. The live show experience is like a Roaring ‘20s party, mixed with a swinging ‘60s night with the Rat Pack, spiced up with a little Motor City soul, and some classic sock hop rockin’.
J.LO CELEBRATES WITH A BIRTHDAY TOUR STOP AT T-MOBILE ARENA
Superstar Jennifer Lopez has announced her first tour in more than six years. “It’s My Party: The Live Celebration” tour will be in honor of her 50th birthday and include visits to 24 cities with Las Vegas being a stop on Saturday, June 8 at the T-Mobile Arena.
HAKKASAN NIGHTCLUB DEBUTS ‘ONE NIGHT ONLY’
Global hospitality company Hakkasan Group will debut its latest weekly nightlife concept, “One Night Only” at Hakkasan Nightclub inside MGM Grand starting Sunday, March 3.
Every Sunday will be an open-format music night, merging EDM, hip-hop, Top 40 and more for guests to experience a myriad of music genres. Guests can look forward to live performances, fun themed events, and new atmospheric elements in the Main Room of the five-level nightlife mecca.
TUFF HEDEMAN BULL RIDING RETURNS TO LAS VEGAS
The Tuff Hedeman Bull Riding Tour will be held at the South Point Arena & Equestrian Center Saturday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $30 for Hedeman’s two-hour signature style event having 24 of the world’s best bull riders by invitation only compete in a three-round competition and sudden death format for $30,000 winnings. The show will feature a lineup of world-class bulls, including bull icon Hellfire.
This year, there will also be a live bull for fans to take photos at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center (DLVEC). Hedeman, the four-time world champion bull rider, will be joined by Hellfire, Eli Vastbinder and Bryce Redo on Thursday, Feb. 28 during the Ultimate Sports Weekend Fan Fest at DLVEC from 3 to 6 p.m.
DLVEC HOSTS GOLDEN KNIGHTS WATCH PARTY
After nearly 7,000 excited fans attended its Big Game Bash on Feb. 3, the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center (DLVEC) will again transform into a massive tailgate celebration for a Vegas Golden Knights (VGK) watch party on Thursday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. The opposing team will be the Florida Panthers.
Hockey fans can together watch the game on the venue’s 72 feet of HD LED screen with a booming stadium sound system. There will be culinary stations, beverage selections, a shooting cage for participants to attempt a pro-level slapshot, free outdoor games including corn hole stations and beer pong.
The viewing party will take place after the Ultimate Vegas Sports Weekend Fan Fest event at DLVEC running from 3 to 7 p.m. The pregame bash will feature notable sports names in the world of NASCAR, USA Sevens Rugby, UFC, Vegas Golden Knights and the Tuff Hedeman Bull Riding Tour.
Both events are free and open for all ages. All seating will be based on a first-come, first-served basis.
M RESORT HOLDS TWO SPRING CONCERTS FEATURING FILIPINO ARTISTS
The M Resort has added two new spring concerts highlighting talented Filipino artists beginning with multi-platinum recording artist Martin Nievera on the M Pavilion stage alongside rising star Morissette Amon on Saturday, March 9 at 8 p.m.
Nievera is known at the “Concert King” of the Philippines with numerous top-selling recordings including 18 platinum. He will be performing his famous love songs and ballads including the award-winning “You Are My Song.” Joining Nievera will be singer and actress Amon, who first rose to fame as runner-up on TV 5’s Star Factor at age 14. She made her Broadway debut in 2012 in the Repertory Philippies production of Disney’s Camp Rock. Recently, she was a semi-finalist on the first season of ABS-CBN’s “The Voice of the Philippines.”
Filipina powerhouse vocalists, Pops Fernandez and Vina Morales will perform on Saturday, May 25 at 8 p.m. Tickets for both shows start at $25.
Pops Fernandez at age 16 released her first album and co-hosted the Philippine television series “Penthouse Live!” with Martin Nievera. Fernandez is also an entrepreneur who created Cheapipay, an online one-stop-shop store. Recently, Fernandez became part of the 50 “Wall of the World” global experts in the field of entertainment on CBS’s new talent show, “The World’s Best.” Singer, actress and model Vina Morales began singing with the choir of Saint Vincent Ferrer Parish Church in Bogo at the age of nine. She has also co-hosted a series of Filipino shows with Martin Nievera in the United States and Canada and was the first Filipino to sing at the New York International Music Festival held in Las Vegas in 2003.
UNLVINO CELEBRATES ITS 45TH YEAR OVER THREE NIGHTS
Las Vegas’ longest running wine and food festival UNLVino, sponsored by Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits of Nevada since the event’s inception, is returning for its 45th year. Benefitting UNLV’s Harrah College of Hospitality, the event will be held three nights starting with Bubble-Licious on Thursday, April 11 at the Keep Memory Alive Events Center in downtown Las Vegas’ Symphony Park, Sake Fever at Red Rock Resort’s pool on Friday, April 12, and the Grand Tasting at The Mirage Event Center on Saturday, April 13.
All three days the events run from 7 to 10 p.m. The cost for Bubble-Licious and The Grand Tasting are $125 in advance and $150 at the door. Sake Fever, featuring a sakes, Japanese spirits and cocktails, and Asian-inspired restaurants, has become known for its annual carving of a 300-lb. fresh tuna. Tickets are $75 in advance and $100 at the door.
CONTAINER PARK CELEBRATES DR. SEUSS’ 115TH BIRTHDAY
There will be storytelling, a book drive and park-wide specials at Downtown Container Park Friday-Sunday, March1-3 in celebration of Dr. Seuss’ 115h birthday and National Read Across America Day. Various readings will be held on The Lawn featuring Dr. Seuss’ famous literary works including “Green Eggs and Ham,” “Cat in the Hat” and “The Lorax.”
The live storytelling schedule is: Friday at 3, 4 and 5 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday at 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 p.m. The Grinch will be hanging around on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. and folks are encouraged to dress as their favorite Dr. Seuss colorful character fashions.
Can’t forget honoring Dr. Seuss without “Green Eggs & Ham.” The famed colored egg dish will be served at Downtown Terrace all three days.
In addition, a book drive will be held all weekend. New or gently used books can be dropped off in bins at the DTLV Merch Store in front of the open-air to Container Park.
THE SMITH CENTER HOSTS ‘THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG’
The Tony Award-winning hit Broadway comedy, “The Play That Goes Wrong,” will make its Las Vegas debut at The Smith Center April 18-24. Tickets start at $29.
The show is about the theatre introducing the Cornley University Drama Society as they attempt to put on a 1920s murder mystery, but everything goes awry as the accident-prone thespians battle their way to the final curtain call.
The Broadway production opened at the Lyceum Theatre April 2, 2017, and by its closing on Jan. 6, 2019, had played 27 previews and 745 performances, making it the 2nd longest running show in the Lyceum Theatre’s history. Not leaving New York, the comedy officially opened Off-Broadway on Feb. 20 at New World Stages – Stage 4.
BELIEVER FESTIVAL WILL RUN APRIL 25-27
Believer Festival 2019 will investigate dire concerns of modern life in five locations over the three-day event taking place April 25-27.
The festival will begin the evening of April 25 at the Neon Museum’s NE10 Studio featuring prose, poetry, and neon art with Hanif Abdurraqib, Mira Jacob, Kiese Laymon, Valeria Luiselli, and experiential artist Craig Winslow.
The next day April 26, the event returns to Red Rock Canyon to explore liminal space between who we are, what we contain, and what we might become. Lesley Nneka Arimah, Natalie Diaz, Lolita Hernandez, Ahmed Naji, Thao Nguyen, and Reggie Watts push these frontiers.
The morning of April 27, an original, immersive piece of performative literature will take place in the historic courthouse at The Mob Museum with writers Natalie Diaz and Valeria Luiselli testifying to the experience and trauma of women as they cross the border.
Closing the festival will be Jill Soloway and special guests from the worlds of music, comedy, and writing making a safe space to explore the vanguard of feminism, trans-rights, and justice.
In addition to the four ticketed events, The Believer Festival will feature a day-long celebration of arts and intersections at Las Vegas’s new arts complex, The Lucy.
Tickets until March 15 are $15 per event for general admission. Student pricing is $10 per event.
JOSEPH RIBKOFF BOUTIQUE OPENS AT FORUM SHOPS
Affluent international womenswear brand Joseph Ribkoff founded in 1957 has partnered with Marshall Retail Group and opened its first-ever, stand-alone boutique at the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. The company’s goal is to give customers a Las Vegas-twist on the label’s luxury wardrobe collections.
The company currently sells to more than 60 international markets with its signature black and white styles, bold print pieces and versatile items.
GETTING READY FOR ST. PATRICK’S DAY
Like with Valentine’s Day, restaurants and events are lining up to celebrate the green holiday coming up St. Patrick’s Day.
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) will turn the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign green as part of a global event celebrating St. Patrick's Day March 14-17.
The lucky ladies of “Fantasy” at the Luxor will offer a complimentary Pot of Gold Gift Basket to one lucky guest attending the show on Sunday, March 17 at 10:30 p.m.
All attendees will be entered in a drawing to win an array of gifts from the cast. During the performance, the ladies will randomly select one seat and the guest will be the evening’s winner.
Cabo Wabo Cantina inside the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood will put an Irish twist on Mexican Dishes, March 15-17 along with Strip-side patio parties each day from noon – 3 p.m. The Torta de Rueben will have the corned beef served on bolillo bread with fries for $16.95, and a corned beef quesadilla served with rice, beans, guacamole, pico de gallo and sour cream for $19.95. All draft beers will be served green on March17.
Morton Group’s American grill, CRUSH at MGM Grand, will stir up a special Irish Stout Lamb Stew for $28 and $15 whiskey Irish Julep cocktail for St. Patrick’s Day – available March 15-17.
MB Steak at Hard Rock will serve an Irish dinner, beef brisket and potatoes for $36, as well as a fine Irish whiskey cocktail for $14 March 15-17.
HEAD SHAVING EVENTS UNITE A COMMUNITY
On Saturday, March 2, McMullan's Irish Pub, 4650 West Tropicana Ave., will host its 13th annual St. Baldrick's Foundation Shave event. Last year, pub owners Brian and Lynn McMullan established Team Kyra in memory of their daughter Kyra who passed away from a brain tumor when she was two-and-a-half. Every two minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer.
McMullan's Irish Pub unites with the following establishments also holding head shaving events: Vinyl at Hard Rock March 7; Nine Fine Irishmen at New York-New York March 9; Khoury's Fine Wine and Spirits March 16; Sons and Daughters of Erin March 16; Founder’s Academy March 30; among others. Together, the collective group has raised $7.4 million for St. Baldricks. This year the hope is to reach the $8.5 million.

The 3rd Annual Springs Preserve Arts and Craft Festival will be held at the Springs Preserve on March 16-17. There will be more than 55 vendors including family home gardening reps and contractors along with music, face painting, and a new kids’ play area. Admission is free.
The Western Athletic Conference Basketball Tournament will return to the Orleans Arena featuring NCAA Division I college basketball matchups March 13-16. The All-Session package, which includes all men’s and women’s games, starts at $85.
This month, Kevin Ripski from Ontario, Canada, became the first winner of the new Sands Millionaire Progressive, which starts at $1 million and increases incrementally and is eligible by placing a $5 side bet. To win, the player must be dealt a natural royal flush. The progressive is available on several table games.
