STRATOSPHERE INTRODUCES NEW 24-HOUR EATERY

            The Stratosphere has opened a new 24-hour restaurant on the main casino floor. Strat Café & Wok is 4,485 square feet and serves traditional Asian cuisine. The venue’s design is modern and colorful with an urban vibe inspired by the neighboring Downtown Las Vegas Arts District with bold art pieces by local artists adorning the walls.

            The menu highlights an array of breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night offerings. Breakfast selections start at $9, variety of soups, salads, starters, sandwiches and burgers at $8, and entrées at $14. Hours are 11 a.m. to midnight.

 

SU CASA NOW OPEN AT THE SILVERTON

            The trendy coastal Su Casa is the newest culinary adventure nestled inside the Silverton’s Mi Casa Grill Cantina. The menu highlights favorites such as ceviche, poke bowls, sashimi, and nigiri along with hearty dishes such as ramen, sushi rolls and burritos. The beverage list includes an extensive Sake selection, Asian beer and specialty cocktails. Opening hours are dinner 4 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 11 a.m. for lunch and dinner Friday-Sunday.

 

WYNN CHANGES COURSE

            Wynn Resorts Paradise Park lagoon project, which called for a large manmade lagoon and recreational activities, isn’t going to happen. Instead a revamped 18-hole golf course will be resurrected with hopes to have it up and running in a year. 

            Meanwhile the new $54 million Wynn Plaza Shops just opened with retailers such as Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton, and Stella McCartney along with Cipriani and Urth Caffé outlets.

            Also, the convention center is scheduled to open in January 2020.

 

CASINO DOMINOES AT PLAZA COMPLETED TRIAL RUN

            Casino Dominoes, the new domino casino game, which made its world debut on the casino floor at the Plaza in September 2018, has successfully completed its 45-day trial run and is officially live now. Free “Learn to Play” classes for Casino Dominoes are being held daily at the game table at 5 p.m. for participants 21 years and older.

            While Casino Dominoes, the first radically-new table game to debut on a casino floor in decades, is currently available as a table game, additional formats of the game, including slot machines and digital applications for Android and IOS, will be announced soon.

            Casino Dominoes is a fast-paced, easy-to-learn card game like three-card poker or blackjack. Inspired by the classic game, Casino Dominoes utilizes up to six players at once.

 

TERRY FATOR’S CHRISTMAS SHOW RETURNS WITH A NEW CAST MEMBER

            Always a holiday-themed favorite, ventriloquist Terry Fator’s show “A Very Terry Christmas” will run Friday, Nov. 23 through Tuesday, Dec. 25 with performances at 7:30 p.m. at The Mirage. Tickets start at $59.99.
            Audiences are always excited when Fator introduces a new surprise celebrity character, but pleased to see favorite established loveable characters such as Winston, the Impersonating Turtle, Vikki “The Cougar,” country legend Walter T. Airdale, Duggie Scott Walker, and Emma Taylor.
            Fator and his cast will deliver comedy, singing, celebrity impersonations and ventriloquism, and feature classic tunes including “Sleight Ride,” “Winter Wonderland,” and “White Christmas.” In addition, audiences will learn about “Juana” a new holiday, which is good for laughs.

 

LIGHTS AND SKATING INVIGORATE HOLIDAY SEASON

            Every year, Las Vegas has outstanding light displays brightening the holiday season, while some resorts offer ice skating.

            Glittering Lights is celebrating its 18th year as a holiday tradition. The drive-thru, light show features more than three million lights along a 2.4-mile course intertwining through the Las Vegas Motor Speedway nightly at dusk through Jan. 6. New displays this year include: a Santa’s Workshop entrance made of lights; a grand “Oh, Christmas Tree” display with 170 lighted trees; and Glittering Lights’ Avenue of Flags representing all 50 state flags. Cost is $20 Monday-Thursday, and $30 Friday-Sunday, holidays and Dec. 19-25.

            For the seventh year, The Cosmopolitan will feature The Ice Rink by transforming the Boulevard Pool into a winter wonderland high above the Las Vegas Strip. It will be open to the public Wednesday, Nov. 21. The roof-top ice skating will take place on more than 4,200 square feet of real ice, and feature roasting s’mores by the fire, light snow showers, and adult renditions of seasonal culinary classics.             On Saturday, Nov. 17, Green Valley Ranch will return with a Winter’s Village experience featuring and outdoor ice rink and will be joined by the debut of its sister property Red Rock Resort also opening a holiday-themed wonderland experience. Both resorts will be beautifully decorated with thousands of lights, and feature holiday music, snacks, cocktails, fire pit stations and an opportunity to roast handmade s’mores.

 

FUNDRAISING IN PAJAMAS AT GLITTERING LIGHTS

            Clad in pajamas, nearly 2,000 people will enjoy a festive event while getting exercise at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway (LVMS) when it hosts the sixth annual PJ 5K Run & 1-Mile Walk on Sunday, Nov. 18 starting at 4:30 p.m. Participants will run, walk or push strollers through the holiday Glittering Lights course in their pajamas. The fundraiser benefits the Las Vegas Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities.

            Folks donating a new pair of children’s pajamas will have a chance to win two tickets to the 2019 Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube NASCAR Weekend at LVMS running March 1-3. Participants donated more than 250 pairs of pajamas at last year’s event. Entry fees range from $15-$45, and children age 5 and under can participate for free.

             Everyone who signs up will receive a race bib, an event completion medal, plus light snacks and beverages. There will also be awards, raffle prizes, entertainment, and games for kids.

 

LANCE BURTON AND FRIENDS WILL PERFORM AT ORLEANS

            After being retired for eight years, magician Lance Burton will be doing two family-friendly performances over Thanksgiving weekend, Friday-Saturday, Nov. 23-24, with his friends at 8 p.m. in the Orleans Showroom. Burton says this show will be different from when he was headlining. He will perform some of his favorite magic and put an emphasis on audience interaction and participation. Also, he’ll be joined onstage by comedy magician Fielding West, juggler Michael Goudeau, and magician Keith West and The Illusioneers. Ticket prices start at $49. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Variety – The Children’s Charity of Southern Nevada.

            On Saturday, Nov. 17 “Hocus Pocus It’s Fielding West” will have comedian magician West entertaining at 8 p.m. with his partner Bob the Bird. Next, he will attempt to make a tiger appear out of thin air. At 9 p.m., “Lance Burton Master Magician: On the Road” will show Burton traveling the country performing with large-scale illusions, sleight-of-hand tricks, and making a bus full of showgirls disappear.

            On Wednesday, Nov. 21 the award-winning family film “Billy Topit Master Magician” will air on TV.

 

BARTENDERS’ GUILD BROKE A RECORD FOR LARGEST GIN AND TONIC

            The Las Vegas Chapter of the United States Bartenders’ Guild (USBG) officially broke the Guinness World Records title for the Largest Gin and Tonic on Nov. 5. The alcoholic mixed drink was a total of 249.99 gallons, beating the prior record of 181 gallons. The record-breaking event and fundraiser for Keep Memory Alive was held at the Apex Social Club inside the Palms and raised more than $10,000 for the nonprofit.

            More than 400 bottles of indigo-colored Empress 1908 gin were poured into a 300-gallon vessel, along with about 165 gallons of Fever-Tree Aromatic Tonic water and approximately 5.5 gallons of lime juice, which was poured and mixed into the beverage by three of the Las Vegas Chapter’s founders – Livio Lauro, Francesco Lafranconi and Tony Abou-Ganim – in their classic USBG Red Uniforms.

 

RTC BIKE SHARE DOWNTOWN CELEBRATES TWO YEARS IN SERVICE

            The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) is celebrating two years of service downtown this month with its RTC Bike Share reaching milestones and launching promotions.

            The service formally launched in October 2016 offers 180 bikes and 21 docking stations. Downtown Las Vegas riders have completed more than 35,000 rides, burning nearly 4.5 million calories using the program. Over the past two years, pass holders have ridden nearly 113,000 miles and eliminated more than 103,000 pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

            In celebration, RTC debuted a 3-Day Pass during Life is Beautiful festival in September. Now it is available permanently. Passes include a 24-Hour Pass for $5 at bike share stations, or a 3-Day Pass for $10, and 30-day membership for $15 online only.

 

CAESARS ESTABLISHES PARTNERSHIP WITH RAIDERS AND STADIUM

 

            Caesars Entertainment Corporation (NASDAQ: CZR) has made an unprecedented 15-year partnership deal for Caesars Entertainment to be the first founding partner of the Las Vegas Stadium, the future home of the Las Vegas Raiders. This partnership also marks the first Raiders deal with a gaming and hospitality company. As a Founding Partner, Caesars Entertainment will host a branded stadium entrance and drop off zone, digital signage, media, radio and print assets in addition to alumni, player and cheerleader appearances. 

            The 65,000-seat stadium under construction will open for the 2020 NFL season and bring 520,000 people to home games each year.

 

NEWLY LAUNCHED ‘VEGAS GIRL!’ PRODUCT LINE

            American artist, Karen Jaikowski, who designed the original key to the City of Las Vegas for former Mayor Oscar Goodman, has developed and just launched a new showgirl-themed product line, “Vegas Girl!” Cute showgirl characters in different colors are offered on a range of products including apparel, handbags, cosmetics, accessories, toys and more. ‘PJ MASKS LIVE!’ WILL RETURN TO ORLEANS ARENA NEXT FEBRUARY

             The hit children’s musical production “PJ Masks Live!” will return to the Orleans Arena on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019, with an all-new family show “PJ Masks Live! Save the Day.” Based on Disney Junior’s top-rated animated TV series “PJ Masks!,” the live show follows the nighttime adventures of three heroic friends…Catboy, Owlette, and Gekko…along with a new character PJ Robot as they save the day from villains. Tickets for the 6 p.m. show start at $25.

 

SOUTH POINT HOSTS THE LAS VEGAS NATIONAL HORSE SHOW

            The 12th annual Las Vegas National Horse Show is returning to the South Point Arena and Equestrian Center this week, Nov. 13-18. Olympic-level jumpers and the nation’s top hunters are competing for the highest honors.

            The feature event, the $135,000 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Las Vegas, presented by Walter Oil & Gas, will take place Saturday, Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 5 p.m. with family activities happening on the arena concourse. Tickets are $20; children 10 years old and under are free. Fans will also be able to meet their riders at a free autograph signing open to the public.

PT’S TAVERNS SERVE THANKSGIVING DINNER ON A ROLL ALL MONTH

            PT’s Taverns is already celebrating Thanksgiving through November by serving turkey sandwiches at all 60 locations in the Las Vegas Valley and Nevada. Basically, the Thanksgiving sandwich is a complete holiday meal on a hoagie roll with roasted turkey, traditional stuffing, and roasted sweet potatoes, topped with cranberry mayonnaise. DOWNTOWN ATTRACTIONS OFFER FAMILY ADVENTURES NOV. 17

            All in one day, Downtown Container Park and the Neon Museum will offer special programs on Saturday, Nov. 17.

            Downtown Container Park’s monthly Kids Camp event will be Bootcamp from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. For captains and cadets, the $10 ticket will include camouflage face painting, games of agility, target practice and a heroic-sized obstacle course. Kids will learn how to make their own paracord bracelets, and following the activities, newly minted officers will join in the mess hall for snacks and photo booth opportunities.             The nearby Neon Museum will be offering Junior Interpreter Tours for families with children accompanied by an adult from 10-10:45 a.m. Tours have a limited capacity. Tickets are $5 per person online.

            Las Vegas’ largest dispensary, Planet 13, which is an entertainment complex, opened this month.             

            Wynn Las Vegas will hold its Wynn Signature Series poker tournament Nov. 28-Dec. 10 with $695,000 in total guarantees up for grabs. There will be a total of 11 events including two Seniors tournaments, bounty events, NLHE, Pot-Limit Omaha and a Short Deck Ante-Only event.

             Buddy V’s Ristorante inside Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian is celebrating its fifth anniversary by offering prix fixe lunch and dinner menus now through Nov. 15. The fifth anniversary lunch is $25 and dinner $45, not including beverages, tax or gratuity.

            Ferraro’s Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar is introducing new seasonal dishes for fall while revealing an elegantly updated interior design. The new contemporary décor replaces the Old-World-inspired scheme and features clean lines and soft cream walls with dark wood finishes.             The NHRA Nevada Nationals at The Strip at LVMS will be moving one week later next year. Originally scheduled Oct. 24-27, the four-day event will take place Oct. 31-Nov. 3 and lead into the season-ending Auto Club NHRA Finals, Nov. 14-17, in Pomona, Calif. In addition, the date change will accommodate dates for the 2019 SEMA Show slated for Nov. 5-8. It will allow the racing community to attend both events.

            The Southern Nevada Symphony Orchestra’s “Musical Honors to Veterans” conducted by Dr. Selmer Spitzer will take place at the CasaBlanca’s Showroom in Mesquite, Nev., on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. The orchestra is comprised of musicians from Southern Nevada and Utah.

            Intercoiffure, the world’s influential hairdressing industry organization, elected Michael Boychuck of COLOR Salon at Caesars Palace to the board of directors after two years as an official Intercoiffure member.

            The Kelly Cardenas Salon at the Hard Rock celebrated its second anniversary this month. Joined by business partner and nightlife veteran Marc Jay, celebrity hairstylist, entrepreneur, and owner Kelly Cardenas signed copies of his new book, “The 6 Indicators For Business & Life.”

            There will be a Holiday Book Sale at the Sahara West Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave., Thursday-Friday, Dec. 6 and 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Saturday, Dec. 8 until 2 p.m. Along with books, DVDs, CDs, LPs and more will be for sale.

            All change tossed in the center’s indoor rainstorm at Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood this month through Dec. 31 will be donated to the Human Rights (HRC) Las Vegas with their mission to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people.

 

HEADLINER CARLOS SANTANA SUPPORTS COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

            Carlos Santana, who is headlining through 2019 at House of Blues inside Mandalay Bay, was recently at Henderson City Hall to unveil the third bench in a series of five community benches for Habitat for Humanity. The bench titled “Peace” was created by artist Leppar, who used the ancient technique of Pyrography, which is fire writing, and local woodworker Urban Wood Worx. The benches are created in honor of Santana for Habitat for Humanity’s historical project in Henderson’s Pittman community.
