‘NITRO CIRCUS’ WILL OPEN AT BALLY’S IN SPRING 2019
Nitro Circus, known worldwide for spectacular arena and stadium live shows, is creating its first-ever resident stage show, which will open at Bally’s next spring. The original adrenaline-charged choreographed show featuring the most talented action sports athletes performing unbelievable stunts and feats will take over the Jubilee Theater, which is being redesigned and renamed the Nitro Circus Theater.
The showroom will have a specially built, multi-million dollar set, ramps stretching throughout, a platform stage and side walls, and video screen installations. The idea will be to engage the audience in the action-sports playground. Nitro Circus, Base Entertainment and Caesars Entertainment are teaming up to co-produce the show, which Nitro Circus is creating. Tickets will go on sale in October 2018.
TRAVIS PASTRANA MADE HISTORY RECREATING EVEL KNIEVEL JUMPS
Action sports superstar Travis Pastrana celebrated Evel Knievel earlier this month with a live event, “Evel Live,” on the History® channel. He successfully reproduced three of Knievel’s history-making jumps including the epic Caesars Palace fountain feat, which nearly killed the original daredevil 50 years ago, and set new records.
“Evel Live” was produced by Nitro Circus Media Productions in partnership with History® and Caesars Entertainment. Travis Pastrana co-founded Nitro Circus in 2003. In 2016, the company introduced Nitro World Games and is at the forefront of action sports and entertainment. In Spring 2019, Nitro Circus will return to Las Vegas when it launches its first-ever resident stage show at Bally’s.
PAULA ABDUL’S 2018 TOUR WILL VISIT RED ROCK RESORT
Grammy and Emmy Award-winning pop superstar Paula Abdul will bring her “STRAIGHT UP PAULA!” 26-city 2018 North American Tour to the Red Rock Ballroom Saturday, Nov. 10 at 8 p.m. This is the ‘80s icon’s first solo outing in more than 25 years. Last year, Abdul toured 45 cities in the United States on the sold-out “Total Package Tour” with Boyz II Men, and New Kids on the Block. Tickets start at $30.
Abdul is forever famous as an original judge on “American Idol” in the early 2000s.
She began her career as a Los Angeles Lakers cheerleader at age 18 before rising to prominence in the 1980s as a highly sought choreographer at the height of the music video era. Abdul went on to score a string of pop music hits in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
MARIAH CAREY LAUNCHED HER NEW RESIDENCY AT CAESARS PALACE
This month, Mariah Carey began her all-new Las Vegas headlining residency, “The Butterfly Returns” at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. She will return on Aug. 31, Sept. 1, 2, 5, 9 and 10. General tickets start at $55.
This show is focusing on a more intimate performance on The Colosseum’s stage with a four-piece live band, three backup singers and seven dancers. A surprise is Carey’s two children, Monroe and Moroccan, joining her on stage during the song “Always Be My Baby,” as well as audience members being invited to sit with the superstar on stage while she performs “Touch My Body.”
MIRAGE HEADLINER MATT GOSS IS BUSY CREATING
Multi-platinum selling British singer-songwriter Matt Goss released his single “Red Flares” last Friday, which he recorded at Studio at the Palms. Goss with a full swing band, back-up singers and sexy dancers currently headlines his show, “Matt Goss at The Mirage,” four nights a week at the resort.
More news, Goss is currently co-writing the upcoming musical version of acclaimed British television series “Upstairs, Downstairs.” This fall, a feature documentary about him and his twin brother Luke’s life titled “When the Screaming Stops” and produced by Fulwell 73 Productions, which is co-owned by James Corden, will be released. Goss has also written a children’s book and is planning to release a Christmas holiday album of traditional classics.
BACKSTREET BOYS RECORD-BREAKING RESIDENCY WILL END APRIL 27
Backstreet Boys (BSB), the best-selling boy band of all time, will hold their final Las Vegas-residency shows at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Feb. 6-April 27, 2019. General ticket prices begin at $55.
Since “Backstreet Boys: Larger Than Life” debuted in 2017, AJ McLean, Brian Littrell, Howie Dorough, Kevin Richardson and Nick Carter have been setting records. Currently, the group has a chart-topping new single “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” and will release a new album later this year.
DEL FRISCO’S UNDERGOES RENOVATION
Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse on Paradise Road is undergoing a $2 million complete renovation and will reopen Monday, July 23, with completion expected in August 2018. Note, there will no longer be live piano music.
Houston-based Montgomery Roth design firm is revitalizing nearly 10,000 square feet of the restaurant and exterior patio lounge. The new modern look will blend the property’s classic steakhouse details with a modern palette of chartreuse, cream and charcoal grey with metallic accents of brushed brass and bronze. There will be creamy leather and plush velvet banquettes and upgraded amenities with the main dining room featuring 17 dining tables. The central dining lounge will be framed with three large raised booths – dubbed the “Godfather” Booths – for an exclusive dining experience. Waterfall crystal chandeliers will illuminate each booth.
Additional highlights of the project include: 4,200 square feet of meetings and convention dining space; laser cut metal screen installations; and a communal bar table.
ETHEL M ADDS WINE TO THEIR SIGNATURE CHOCOLATE TASTINGS
New at the Ethel M Chocolates’ factory store in Henderson is the addition of wine pairing at chocolate tastings. Visitors can now sip Trinchero Family Estates’ wine alongside fan-favorite candies such as Ethel M’s signature Pecan Caramel Raptures and Lemon Satin Crèmes.
Tastings with wine are held five times daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the odd hours, and cost $25 per person. Non-alcoholic chocolate tastings are available five times daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the even hours, and cost $15 per adult and $6 per child. Subject to change are tasting times, wines and chocolate flavors.
GOOD CHARLOTTE WILL MAKE A TOUR STOP AT THE PALMS
Multi-platinum modern rock quintet Good Charlotte are planning a North American Tour in support of their seventh full-length studio album, “Generation Rx,” scheduled for release on Sept. 14. The tour will conclude at the newly renovated Pearl Concert Theater at the Palms on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. Ticket range is $34.95-$85.95.
Z’CREAM DREAM IS UNDERGROUND’S FIRST ‘ZAP-ON-TAP’ CRAFT BREW
Z’Cream Dream, available to the public through Aug. 31, is The Underground’s first “Zap-on-Tap” craft brew at the Mob Museum. House-brewed at The Underground’s new Prohibition exhibit featuring a distillery, brewery and speakeasy, Z’Cream Dream is a collaboration with signature sponsor Zappos. The next seasonal Zappos craft beer selection will be introduced on Sept. 1.
Zappos has an in-house process for selecting a beer selection team each time, which meets with The Underground’s experts to create a different brew. Summertime Z’Cream Dream, a cream ale with subtle notes of sweet blood orange and the presence of vanilla, is available for $8 per pint glass.
The Underground’s speakeasy, which opens daily at 9 a.m., is a full-service bar with a new Happy Hour from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday offering 20 percent off select cocktails, draft beer and wine by the glass. Admission to the speakeasy is included with the museum’s general admission, and free any time for patrons using the daily passwords found on Instagram Stories @MobMuseum Underground.

The national touring tribute show “Kalimba, The Spirit of Earth Wind and Fire” will headline the M Pavilion on Saturday, July 21 at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $19.
The Orleans Showroom has lined up Cheech & Chong on Saturday, Aug. 18 at 8 p.m. with tickets starting at $50. and Air Supply, Aug. 31-Sept. 1-2 at 8 p.m. with tickets from $39.95.
Penn & Teller won’t return to their show at the Rio until Saturday, Aug. 18 due to the silent partner’s recent spinal-fusion surgery.
Timing is great. “ABBA The Concert” will return to the Tropicana on Saturday, Aug. 25 at 8 p.m. Audiences will be in the mood considering the current film release “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.” This tribute show brings the pop phenomena back to life. Tickets are priced from $29.95 to $34.95.
Award-winning illusionists Kyle and Mistie Knight will headline the Suncoast Showroom on Sunday, Aug. 12. The magical duo has appeared on hit TV shows, including The CW Network’s “Fool Us” and BBC’s “Now You See It.” Tickets start at $24.95. The ‘60s and ‘70s music band Flower Power Time Machine will follow on Sunday, Aug. 26. Tickets start at $14.95. Shows are at 7:30 p.m.

Celebrity Chef Robert Irvine will celebrate the one-year anniversary of Robert Irvine’s Public House at the Tropicana with a bash on Saturday, July 28 from 6 to 11 p.m. There will be a special selection of a la carte dishes, an hourly beer rotation menu, an all-new happy hour menu, and entertainment featuring Blues and Rock party band The Steel Benders.
Searsucker at Caesars Palace is partnering with “Absinthe” by Spiegelworld to offer a dinner-and-show package starting at $149, which includes a curated menu and complimentary Moscow mule at the restaurant, and one reserved seating level show ticket.
Golden Rainbow for the third year will partner with local restaurants for “Dining Out For Life” on Tuesday, July 24. Held across the nation annually, the campaign raises funds for local HIV/AIDS service organizations. More than 20 local participating restaurants have pledged to contribute a portion of their day’s proceeds to Golden Rainbow.

SOUTH POINT CAR SHOW WILL BENEFIT SPEEDWAY CHILDREN’S CHARITIES
The South Point Car & Truck Show presented by Star Nursery, which will benefit the Las Vegas Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities, is set for Saturday, Aug. 18 at the South Point’s Exhibit Halls from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event housed in a climate-controlled environment will feature cars, trucks, bikes, semi-trucks and an array of exotic vehicles on display. Admission, which will include family entertainment, is free for spectators.
Registration for vehicles is $35 and a variety of awards will be up for grabs including Best Club Participation, Children’s Choice, People’s Choice and South Point Choice. Vendor booths are available to rent at the show.

For National Caviar Day on Wednesday, July 18, high-end MB Steak at the Hard Rock will serve its organic sturgeon caviar, a delicacy made with crème fraiche, buckwheat blini, whipped egg yolk and shallots, for $32.
National Daiquiri Day on Thursday, July 19 will be celebrated at Cabo Wabo Cantina, located Strip-side at the Miracle Mile Shops. Guests will be able to mix any combination of flavors offered at the bar, with prices starting at $12.
National Tequila Day is Tuesday, July 24. Cabo Wabo Cantina will make it a week-long celebration with shot specials Monday, July 23 to Friday, July 27. Throughout the week, Cabo Wabo will offer 50 percent off shots of Cabo Wabo tequila, Espolòn and Chinaco.
MB Steak will celebrate with a Spicy Cucumber Margarita on July 24 priced at $15, Therapy restaurant Downtown will feature the Mango Ricky cocktail for $12, and PT’s Entertainment Group, with 59 taverns throughout the Las Vegas Valley and Nevada, will offer $5 shots of Golden Entertainment’s limited-edition Patrón Reposado tequila.
Pancho’s Mexican Restaurant in Downtown Summerlin will offer $6.95 shots of Patron Barrel Select Reposado. In addition, the cantina is prepared for the holiday with more than 35 brands of tequila and will offer its signature Cadillac “Naughty Maggie” Margarita.
Freed’s Bakery, featured on Food Network’s “Vegas Cakes,” will get on the action and sweeten the day with Tequila Sunrise Cupcakes.
International Beer Day will be Friday, Aug. 3. Again, PT’s Entertainment Group’s 59 locations will celebrate ales, lagers and stouts from around the world by offering 50 percent off import beers.

DISCOVERY Children’s Museum Turns Back TO THE ‘80s
The three-story Discovery Children’s Museum will turn back time from July 21-28 with Totally 80’s Week with themed programming including having popular toys and fashion accessories for sale in the museum store.
The week will culminate with an adults-only Totally 80’s Night on Saturday, July 28 from 7 to 9:30 p.m., which will benefit Discovery and Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada. Guests are encouraged to dress in 80’s fashion or as their favorite star or character of that era. During the event, Ghostbusters of Las Vegas will make an appearance.
Tickets include museum access, one signature cocktail, light bites, a retro candy bar, karaoke, music and dancing, a photo booth, glow-in-the-dark graffiti, rad science demonstrations, and more. Early bird admission is $20 for museum members and $35 for non-members; and will increase on July 22 to $50. LOCAL LIBRARY BRANCHES OFFER NEW TOY LENDING PROGRAM
Across the country, the concept of toy lending has been taking root at libraries. Now the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District is establishing a new Toy Lending Program featuring 200 dolls from the popular American Girl doll collection. The dolls represent an array of personality profiles, ethnicities, and historical back-stories. Each doll will be loaned with a book telling their life story through the character’s perspective, along with a backpack carrier for transporting them. Library cardholders can check out the dolls for three weeks at a time and renew them once.

The 2018 World Series of Poker is winding down at the Rio and will culminate on Sunday, July 15 when the champion is crowned at the main event, which has turned out to be the second biggest turnout in the event’s history with a field of 7,874 players.
