KISS RESIDENCY WILL KICK OFF IN DECEMBER
KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons broke the news of the band’s return to Las Vegas during an interview at Animazing Gallery located in The Venetian Grand Canal Shoppes where his “ArtWorks” collection of paintings and sketches was being previewed. He said KISS would be at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood starting Dec. 27 and through February.
KISS is in the middle of its “End Of The Road” farewell tour, which was originally scheduled to conclude on July 17, 2021, in New York City but is now expected to last well into 2022. The pandemic prolonged their plans.
KISS did a nine-show run in Las Vegas back in November 2014 at The Joint in the former Hard Rock Hotel, now Virgin Hotels. Their run was captured for “KISS Rocks Vegas” DVD and Blu-ray set released in August 2016.
‘WOW – THE VEGAS SPECTACULAR’RETURNS TO RIO SHOWROOM
“WOW – The Vegas Spectacular” is returning to the Rio Showroom this week on Aug. 10 featuring many of its favorite performers, as well as new acts. The show has performed more than 1,200 times since its debut at the Rio on Oct. 7, 2017, transporting audiences into a world of water, wonder and fantasy. Prior to the pandemic shut down, “WOW” had received numerous awards.
Many of the numbers familiar to audiences will return like comedian Alex Traisci, along with brand new acts including Navas and their “Wheel of Death” - Gold Medalists at the Monte Carlo Festival, the Adagio act “Duo Ice,” the gravity-defying hand-to-hand act “Acrodream,” “Rialcris” the trio of muscle men recently featured on “America’s Got Talent,” the aerial duo “Luna Girls,” a mind-blowing Icarian act and, the juggling talents of Paul Ponce, the son of former “WOW” stars Silvia Silvia and Victor Ponce who are now starring in “Extravaganza” at Bally’s.
This acclaimed production features a cast of more than 30 international performing artists from more than 10 different countries. The 180-degree theatrical setting engages audience with 3D multi-media projections, water walls and holograms. There are more than 400 lighting pieces in the show and an LED wall constructed of 24 million LED lamps. Embracing the scale of the show there are 240 costumes worn by the cast with eight changes for every cast member.
In August the show’s schedule is Tuesday and Friday at 8 p.m., and Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., dark Monday. Starting in September “WOW” will perform nightly at 7 p.m. with additional shows at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, dark Friday. CHEF TODD ENGLISH OPENS OLIVES RESTAURANT AT VIRGIN HOTELS
Four-time James Beard award winner and celebrity chef Todd English has expanded his culinary foothold in Nevada with his latest restaurant opening Olives at the new Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. His first Las Vegas restaurant, The Beast, opened in AREA15 last year. English worked with design firm ICRAVE to reimagine the design of his iconic restaurant Olives in Boston which premiered in 1989. The menu features the star chef’s time-tested take on Mediterranean cuisine.
Olives features an intimate 185-seat dining room with a stone and steel hearth kitchen. The cozy space surrounds an elegant, raised bar with upscale lounge areas dressed in stone, terra cotta, wood, cork and Renaissance-inspired hand-glazed art. Olives is a five-star dining experience. Hours are Wednesday–Sunday from 5–11 p.m. with dinner service from 6–10 p.m. The restaurant is conveniently located off the Paradise parking garage.
STRIP’S NEWEST ATTRACTION – FLYOVER – TO OPEN SEPT. 1
FlyOver in Las Vegas, the new immersive flight ride from leading hospitality company Pursuit, will officially take off on the Strip Sept. 1. The attraction located next to the Hard Rock Café will take guests on a multi-sensory journey soaring over 22 of the American West’s most spectacular destinations, from the Grand Canyon’s plunging river valleys to the volcanic peaks of Oregon’s Cascade Volcanic Arc.
The flight ride’s film, “The Real Wild West,” will be shown in stunning 8K high definition on a 52.5-foot spherical screen. The attraction uses a state-of-the-art moving platform with six degrees of motion enabling guests to feel every sweeping movement of the journey. Special effects including wind, mist and location-specific scents heighten the immersive flight ride as guests hang suspended with their feet dangling above the country’s most stunning natural wonders.
At the start of the ride, guests are entertained by a cinematic boarding and pre-show experience created by Moment Factory. The panoramic, six-minute pre-show is projected across 360° wraparound walls and a central hanging medallion as it chronicles the booms and busts of the American West, from the Cambrian Explosion through to Gold Rush ghost towns and Silicon Valley startups, setting the stage for the adventure ahead.
FlyOver will open with two flight ride experiences and a full-service bar serving craft cocktails and bites. The experience will be open daily to guests of all ages, with tickets starting at $24 for children ages 12 and under and $34 for adults. Children must be at least 40 inches tall to ride.
‘OPIUM’ WILL RETURN TO THE COSMOPOLITAN SEPT. 24
Houston, we have liftoff! After being stuck deep in Uranus for more than 15 months, OPIUM’s Captain Kunton and his plutonic crew are ready to touch back down at the Opium Theatre inside The Cosmopolitan on Sept. 24. Earlier this year, it was announced that Spiegelworld would be taking over the restaurant space formerly operating as Rose. Rabbit. Lie., adjacent to the Opium Theatre. With the re-opening of “OPIUM,” further announcements about the restaurant plans will be made in the coming weeks.

GILBERT GOTTFRIED’S ‘DIRTY COMEDY FESTIVAL’ HEADLINES PLAZA
Gilbert Gottfried’s “Dirty Comedy Festival” will visit The Comedy Works at the Plaza downtown on Friday-Saturday, Oct. 15 and16 at 9 p.m. inside the hotel’s vintage Vegas showroom featuring red velvet booth seating, an updated sound system, full bars, and table cocktail service. Tickets online are $30 and $45 for VIP. Must be 21 or older to attend.

THE SPACE STARTS WINE WEDNESDAYS IN SEPTEMBER
Starting this September, performing arts venue The Space at 3460 Cavaretta Court will begin featuring Wine Wednesdays supported by Findlay Automotive Group and Foley Family Wines with tastings and live performances.
Each Wednesday, The Space will introduce guests to great wines from Foley Family Wines with a sommelier-led tasting experience beginning at 7:30 p.m. and finish with appearances by Las Vegas’ top entertainers. Local family-friendly art studio Mi Amor Art at 4245 S. Grand Canyon Drive will transform into a princess palace with their first princess-themed party and donation drive benefiting The Shade Tree.
The Princess Paint Party will be held Saturday, Aug. 21 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event will have a special teacup painting with beloved characters Belle and Cinderella, along with other princess activities such as story time, games and photo opportunities.
