SUGAR FACTORY AMERICAN BRASSERIE SET TO OPEN THIS SUMMER

 

                Sugar Factory American Brasserie, a favorite celebrity hotspot, is set to open a new Las Vegas location at the Harmon Corner offering brunch, lunch and dinner this summer. The family-friendly destination known for its sweets and treats will have three-stories of indoor and outdoor seating, a walk-up goblet bar accessible from the pedestrian bridge on Las Vegas Blvd. and Harmon Ave., a whimsical candy retail store, and a fully operable, candy dots rock climbing wall.

                “Las Vegas is where Sugar Factory first originated,” said owner Charissa Davidovici, “We couldn’t be happier to be opening in a new reimagined location centrally located on the Strip.”

                The 14,000-square-foot restaurant will feature 230 seats indoors, a 36-seat entry-level bar, a 30-seat Carousel Bar on the mezzanine level, and a 30-seat outdoor patio fitted with fire pits that overlook the Las Vegas Strip. Upon entering, diners will be greeted by a specialty Goblet Bar which is overlooked by the second-floor dining room, Carousel Bar and outdoor patio. On the third level, guests will encounter a large indoor dining room, a candy store featuring more than 500 types of candy, and a spectacular candy dots rock climbing wall. In addition to the endless candy options, guests can choose from two glass cases filled with homemade ice cream and gelato, milkshakes, fresh homemade pastries, and coffee selections.

                Throughout the restaurant, visitors will find Sugar Factory’s signature, over-the-top, Instagramable decor, including a life-size flower wall with neon artwork lining the gold staircase, LED screens, the instantly recognizable floor-to-ceiling dot wall, and a glamorous dining space fitted with red velvet chairs and booths.

                Some of the establishment’s oddity offerings include Double Stack Rainbow Pancakes, the Donut Burger, Sugar Factory’s signature 64 oz. alcoholic smoking candy goblets and celebrity-approved goblets, plus insane milkshakes served in chocolate-covered mugs like the Sugar Caramel Sugar Daddy Cheesecake Milkshake or the Bacon Cheeseburger Milkshake. The King Kong Sundae, which serves up to 12 people, has 24 scoops of ice cream and much more.

 

ENTERTAINMENT HIGHLIGHTS

 

         Styx, the rock band that has forged an indelible legacy both on record and onstage, will return to Las Vegas for a two-night limited engagement at The Venetian Theatre inside The Venetian® on Sept. 25 and 26 at 8 p.m. For these special performances, the group has created an exclusive set list and brand-new stage production.

                This week, the Rio resumes 24/7 hotel operations and “Penn & Teller” return to their namesake theater on Thursday, April 22. Their show will feature all-new content and magic as well as selections from the duo’s extensive catalog of fan favorites. Tickets begin at $60.

                Comedian Bill Burr during his July 2 and 3 dates at The Cosmopolitan have announced the addition of a late-night show on July 3. The actor, writer, and podcast host will begin his two-year residency at The Chelsea that weekend.

                Burr’s residency marks the return of live entertainment acts to The Cosmopolitan including Sech on Aug. 28 and John Legend on Sept. 18.

                Both Celine Dion and Carrie Underwood have posted teaser videos and will be making headlining announcements this week, which reportedly will be at the new Resorts World.

                Veteran impressionist Gordie Brown is returning to his former anchor resident spot in the Golden Nugget’s showroom this week. The headliner’s schedule is 7:30 on Thursdays and Fridays, and 5 and 8 p.m. on Saturdays with tickets $25-$35. But Brown’s schedule will change with the Golden Nugget reinstating its “52 Fridays” concert series on June 4 with Felix Cavalier’s Rascals. Other acts following are Sweet on June 11, Gary Lewis & The Playboys June 25, and Bullet Boys July 9.

 

WITH SUPERSTAR DJS - RESORTS WORLD WILL OPEN JUNE 24

 

                Last year was the excitement of Circa opening downtown and now attention has turned to Resorts World Las Vegas opening on Thursday, June 24 on land the former Stardust Hotel and Casino once occupied. Resorts World, the first ground-up resort development on the Las Vegas Strip in more than a decade, is accepting room reservations.

                Through a historic partnership with Hilton, Resorts World Las Vegas will offer 3,500 luxury guest rooms and suites from three premium Hilton brands, each with its own entrance, lobby and distinct rooms and suites. The largest multi-brand deal in Hilton’s history will include the largest 1,496-room Conrad Hotels & Resorts property in the world, one of the first Crockfords, LXR Hotels & Resorts locations in the U.S. with 236 ultra-luxury accommodations, and a marquee Hilton Hotels & Resorts 1,774-room hotel.

                On the music scene, two award-winning DJs have been announced by Zouk Group, Singapore’s 29-year-old nightlife brand opening its first venues in the United States. Multi-platinum, Grammy® Award-winning artist, DJ and producer Zedd will headline Zouk Nightclub and Ayu Dayclub, Las Vegas’s newest day and nightlife experiences opening this summer. 

                Zedd made his debut with “Clarity” after signing with Interscope in 2012 and has been breaking down barriers surrounding music genres ever since.                 The new innovative 36,000-square-foot Zouk Nightclub is poised to become the most technologically advanced nightclub in Las Vegas – from interactive 3D booking maps allowing guests to see the exact tables they are booking and a digital guest list providing easy self-entry to a state-of-the-art articulating ceiling with a center focal point called the Mothership. The Mothership incorporates a complete lighting system offering different types of dynamic solutions, both motorized and static. Within Zouk, partygoers can journey through multiple experiences with Capital Bar and Empire, which will be able to operate as an addition to the main club or separate venues on specific nights and seasons.

 

FUNDRAISER MARKS 15TH ANNIVERSARY FOR COMPOSERS SHOWCASE

 

                April 21 will mark the one-year anniversary of composer and producer Keith Thompson writing and organizing an inspirational music video for his original pandemic-related support song, “Needing Each Other,” with 50 singers, 20 musicians and his creation of the TCS Entertainment Community Relief Fund through the nonprofit he co-founded in 2006, The Composers Showcase. To date, more than $150,000 has been raised and 300 residents, who are part of the performing arts industry, have received financial assistance from the fund. The video of “Needing Each Other” is available on YouTube.

                The next fundraiser of The Composers Showcase, “Anniversary!,” celebrating 15 years and featuring all-original music by some of the finest songwriters, musicians and performers is set for Tuesday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m. at Notoriety Live. Singer-songwriter and legendary entertainer Clint Holmes will co-host the evening with Thompson while also presenting some of his own original music. The anniversary show will feature other original songs by favorites Vita Corimbi-Drew, Chadwick Johnson, Dr. Mark Wherry, Enoch Augustus Scott, Vegas newcomer and saxophonist Justin Young and young up-and-coming pop singer-songwriter ChloA Watson. The evening will also feature musical performances by pianist Philip Fortenberry and the cast of “The Cocktail Cabaret” with Niki Scalera, Maren Wade, Eric Jordan Young and Ron Remke. BELLAGIO’S PETROSSIAN BAR DEBUTS CAVIAR AND COCKTAILS

 

                Petrossian Bar’s new epicurean experience at Bellagio features Caviar creations: Caviar Taco, Caviar Pie, and Dark Chocolate Caviar, and cocktail pairings. The signature sips include Worldly Old Fashioned transferred to the table via a glass globe, Poof! encapsulated in a glass of smoke, and The Bellagio Martini. This exquisite lobby bar along with live piano sounds and views of Dale Chihuly’s “Fiori di Como” over the resort’s lobby make for a grand experience.

                In addition, Petrossian Bar offers an elevated Afternoon Tea experience from 1–4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The experience includes freshly baked scones, flavorful desserts, and choice of tea.

 

PREHISTORIC CAVE BEAR FINDS HOME AT NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM

 

                A towering, 10-foot-tall, fossil cave bear skeleton is now on display at the Las Vegas Natural History Museum, thanks to a generous donation from Ashraf (Alex) Khalaf, owner of Kalifano, a Las Vegas-based merchant of one-of-a-kind fossils and works of art, and more.

                 The cave bear fossil skeleton came from the Carpathian Mountains of Romania. Prehistoric Cave Bears lived in Europe and Asia during the Pleistocene Ice Age. Their closest relatives are North American brown bears, also known as “grizzly bears.” As the name suggests, cave bear skeletons have mostly been found in European caves, where they hibernated.

        The exhibit is included with admission to the museum, which is open daily 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are available online or at the door.

 

‘QUEEN OF THE ARTS’ SCULPTURES UNVEILED

 

                The Mayor’s Fund for Las Vegas LIFE, a vehicle for corporate and philanthropic partners to support innovative programs that improve quality of life for all Las Vegas residents with a focus on vulnerable populations, unveiled two community sculptures at the West Las Vegas Arts Center, 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd. in the Historic Westside. 

                Completion and installation of the “Queen of the Arts” sculptures, created by renowned international artists, Gus and Lina Ocamposilva, and selected by West Las Vegas community members in 2016 to grace the entrance of the West Las Vegas Arts Center, was funded by a gift of $40,000.

                Bold and colorful, the Queen of Arts sculptures each stand nearly 15-feet tall and are made of aluminum.

 

‘FANTASY’ ADDS SHOWTIMES IN RESPONSE TO SOLD-OUT SHOWS

 

                In response to its recent run of sold-out shows, the sultry female revue “Fantasy” at the Luxor, will offer a second nightly show on select nights in May. In addition to its nightly 10:30 p.m. show and additional 8 p.m. show every Sunday, “Fantasy” will offer an 8 p.m. performance on the following dates: Monday, May 17–Saturday, May 22 and Monday, May 31.

                The show is headlined by powerhouse vocalist, Lorena Peril, and the always-evolving, sexy cast of gorgeous showgirls. Alternating performances are by guest stars Murray SawChuck, comedian and magician, and Jonathan Goodwin, a newcomer and professional escape artist.

 

LAS VEGAS SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY FESTIVAL IS FREE AND VIRTUAL

 

                The Las Vegas Science and Technology Festival, April 23-30, is back, virtually! Sessions will feature Gitanjali Rao, “TIME” magazine’s “Top Young Innovator” and “Kid of the Year;” Las Vegas’ weatherman Nathan Tannenbaum; and much more. OSCAR’S DINNER SERIES ADDS SECOND EVENT THIS MONTH

 

                Back by popular demand and expected to sell out quickly, former Las Vegas Mayor and mob attorney, Oscar B. Goodman will hold a second edition this month on Wednesday, April 28 of the Oscar’s Dinner Series at Oscar’s Steakhouse in the Plaza. The evening begins with cocktails in the lounge at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. in the iconic glass dome overlooking Fremont Street.

                Attendees enjoy a special three-course plated dinner paired with red and white wines with Goodman, as he recalls: “Reputed Mob Bosses and Me, Part One.” Individual tickets are typically $150 each. However, due to social distancing and capacity requirements, only a limited number of tables for parties of two people $300, four $600 and six $900 will be sold.

                Maverick Helicopters received the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) 2020 Award of Excellence “Diamond Award.” The prestigious honor is a result of the company’s ongoing dedication to maintenance training and aircraft safety.
