Chinese New Year 2023 began on January 22. The 12 Chinese zodiac signs must show tolerance and empathy towards the people they meet to preserve their karmic balance, especially if they wish to avoid unnecessary conflicts. In 2023, we ring in the Year of the Rabbit, one of 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac. The animal designations of the zodiac follow a 12-year cycle and are always used in the same sequence. Those born in the Year of the Rabbit are said to be talented at many things. They are affectionate people, often excelling at forming close relationships. However, they also appreciate tranquility and seek out peace.

Valentine’s Day! February 14th falls on a Tuesday this year. Not the best day of the week to come to Vegas for a wedding. Look for a lighter than usual schedule for the chapels on that day. Normally, Las Vegas hosts nearly 10,000 weddings per month, and on Valentine’s day, they should do about 7,000…which is a sharp drop from times when the 14th lands on a weekend. There are, however, going to be specials offered by every resort and casino. How did Valentine’s Day start? Valentine's Day is a fixed day on the calendar that got lumped into a mid-February holiday on the ancient Roman calendar called Lupercalia—which some historians believe is what led to Valentine's Day being all about love. Lupercalia celebrated fertility, and may have included a ritual in which men and women were paired off by choosing names from a jar. In Ancient Greece, people observed a mid-winter celebration for the marriage of the god Zeus and the goddess Hera.

And in honor of Valentine’s Day:
It's always exciting to get a Valentine's Day card pushed through your door, with no stamp on it - just your name on the envelope. Except when you're in prison...
Yet again, this Valentine's Day I'll be in my house all alone, watching a film on TV and eating delivery food. I really can't see a downside.
