Miss Bluebell And The Lido To Be Honored at Majorca Gala
By Bill Sewers
For the first time in its illustrious history, the famed “Lido de Paris” has been invited to perform on Spanish soil for a special gala performance in Majorca, on June 18, 2010. In a flurry of feathers, rhinestones, music, color and motion, the evening will be the highlight of the second annual International Festival of 1,000 Stars at the BlauPortoPetro Beach Resort & Spa, a five-star luxury hotel gracing the coves and beaches of Porto Petro on Majorca’s southeast coast.
The three-day festival takes place from June 17 to 19 and is produced by Germany’s MMSP Show Production, one of Europe’s most respected and prolific production houses, in association with the BlauPortoPetro hotel.MMSP currently has shows running in Majorca, Berlin, and the Canary Islands.
“I started the festival,” says Michael Mehlig, MMSP’s founder and CEO, “to showcase and honor the large, spectacular shows which have made a vital impact on the entertainment tapestry all over the world. In 2009, our first year, with the support of the government of the Balearic Islands, Paris’ ‘Bal du Moulin Rouge’ made its debut performance in Spain, and this year, we’ve invited the ‘Lido.’”
The festival’s first night will be known as Honor Night, and this year’s honoree is the legendary Miss Bluebell, founder and doyenne of the celebrated Bluebell Girls, whose grace, class, elegance and beauty have set the standard for showgirls the world over for several decades.
Michael is quick to point out that the festival and reunion is not only for those associated with the Lido or other large shows, but for show people of all disciplines. “I want to emphasize that we are hoping people from all aspects of show business -- singers, dancers, actors, specialty acts, managers, producers, designers, agents -- will attend. The event will be structured so that there will be time for catching up with old friends, making new ones, and also enjoying the many amenities of the hotel and the amazing beauty of Porto Petro and Majorca.”
Many internationally renowned stars, entertainers and celebrities have also been invited.
The BlauPortoPetro Beach Resort & Spa is one of the Great Hotels of the World, and management has arranged for special hotel rates for the event.
