Jabbawockeez – THE hottest dance show in Las Vegas is Jabbawockeez at Monte Carlo. This modern/hip hop dance group began in 2003 in San Diego and was on the 2007 season of America’s Got Talent, but was cut from the show during the Las Vegas callbacks. However, they came back the next year even stronger and won the first season of America’s Best Dance Crew TV reality show. How ironic it is for them to be cut from AGT here in Vegas – and now they are headlining at the Monte Carlo. I have to tell you, their show is amazing! While sitting there enjoying every moment, it hit me that they are silent characters in white masks with dance, just like Blue Man Group is silent characters in blue masks to percussion. It also came to me that both of these groups are modern hip versions of old-century mime characters. When you realize the old-tyme artistic mime character abilities from this group, you appreciate even more the creative effort that it took to conceive a themed group such as this and how cool it is to use modern techno music and sound effects to bring their dance to life. Go check them out at Monte Carlo!
Boyz II Men – The Grammy (four time) award winning Soul / R&B group is here in Las Vegas until January 9, 2011 at the Flamingo. The group originally formed in 1988 as a quintet while the guys were still in high school at the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts. Since 2003, the group has been performing as a trio which consists of Shawn Stockman, Wanya Morris and Nathan Morris. The ‘Boyz’ are here in Las Vegas to celebrate their 10thanniversary year and to perform their Christmas show. This past week, the media was treated to their high-energy show along with an amazing backstage social gathering. Since this is a very limited engagement for them here in Las Vegas – get your tickets now so you are sure not to miss this great concert event. You will be standing in the aisles, singing, dancing, and clapping too – just like we all did!

Showgirl Follies – As I wrote about last week, the Showgirl Follies’ show produced by Mistinguett Productions was an over-sold huge success this past weekend at the Freedom Hall Theater at Sun City Anthem in Henderson. The show paid a memorial tribute to three of Las Vegas’ entertainment legends – Michael Darrin, Patrick Maes, and Breck Wall as choreographer, costume designer, and producers of some of the top historic shows in Las Vegas. Congratulations Mistinguett and the entire cast for a great show!
??? - Is it true that Greg London is moving his show from the Riviera over to the Hilton? Is it true that Greg London was thrown out and banned from the Fox 5 studio for being rude and arrogant while he was there for an interview? Is it true that Greg London’s Public Relation’s company fired him due to his behavior and antics while at the Fox 5 studio? Greg, in case you haven’t noticed - Las Vegas is not the booming metropolis like Reno is…it’s a pretty small town and you better have an attitude adjustment if you think you have any chance of staying in this town!
Happy New Year – Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I wish everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!Ken’s Korner will be back in January 2011 right after the holidays.
