KELLY CLARKSON SETS ‘INVINCIBLE’ RESIDENCY AT PLANET HOLLYWOOD

        No foolin’, the highly energetic Kelly Clarkson has announced she will be headlining a brand-new Las Vegas residency, “Kelly Clarkson: Invincible,” starting on Wednesday, April 1 at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood. She made the news public to her TV audience with showgirls surrounding her and inviting the audience to see her show in 2020. General tickets will begin at $59 and go on sale this week.

        Clarkson and her longtime band in an exclusively designed show will immerse fans in an up-close music experience covering her nearly two-decade long catalog of award-winning hits. Clarkson will also be offering VIP Experiences bundling premium tickets with exclusive show perks like a stage-side bar as well as a limited number of meet and greets.

        Texas-born singer-songwriter and winning judge on “The Voice,” Clarkson recently released her critically acclaimed Grammy nominated eighth studio album, “Meaning of Life.” Known for her gift of gab, she also made the highest rated daytime debut in seven years with her own talk show, “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” syndicated by NBCUniversal Television Distribution.

The 16 dates going on sale for her 8 p.m. shows will be April 1, 3, 4, 10, 11; July 29-31; Aug. 1, 5, 7, 8; and Sept. 18, 19, 23, 25, 26.

 

JILL KIMMEL WILL HEADLINE AT BROTHER’S COMEDY CLUB

Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club at The LINQ Promenade is introducing a new night of comedy, “Jill Kimmel Live.” The 16-show engagement by Jimmy Kimmel’s younger sister will take place select Thursdays from Dec. 26 through July 23, 2020, with shows beginning at 10 p.m.

        Jill Kimmel will be using her extensive network of comedy friends, colleagues, and counterparts to follow her act and fill the stage with an eclectic and ever-changing group of performers.

 

ARTS DISTRICT’S NEWEST BAR, RESTAURANT IS 18BIN

        The Las Vegas Arts District’s newest bar and restaurant is 18bin. It’s the latest concept by Las Vegas culinary veterans and investors Sonny Ahuja and Don Welch, the team behind the critically acclaimed Bin702 at Container Park. With a 4,000-square-foot indoor space and 5,000-square-foot outdoor patio, 18bin is situated on the corner of Charleston Boulevard and South Art Way in the Arts Factory.

        The décor reflects the neighborhood’s eclectic ambience with its vintage lamps and light fixtures, as well as indoor and outdoor furniture.18bin accommodates 100 guests indoors and 150 guests outdoors on its large, trellis-covered terrace. Live entertainment is scheduled regularly, and the venue will offer special programming and activations on its outdoor stage on First Fridays. Hours are daily opening at 11 a.m. and going to midnight Sunday-Thursday and until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

 

CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON WORLD’S LARGEST PERMANENT ICE BAR

        Construction on the world’s largest and permanent bar made solely of ice will begin Nov. 9 and be completed on Nov. 24 and open in December. ICEBAR at The LINQ Promenade will be 1,200 square feet, kept at 23-degrees Fahrenheit, and made from nearly 100 tons of ice shipped from Canada and Minnesota. The new attraction will be open daily to the public from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. and have a capacity of up to 500 guests in indoor and outdoor space. For the general public, it will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.


Once the 650 ice blocks each weighing 250-pounds arrive, 12 professional ice carvers will work around-the-clock to construct the 10 X 10-foot operational ice bar and create sculptures to fill the space.

                   Some of the highlights will include statues of Vegas Golden Knights and Evel Knievel along with settings like the North Pole, Ancient Rome, the NHL Experience, a library with a working fireplace, and 12-foot ICE angel wings. A fun fact is the ice was created by utilizing a special process that removes all air bubbles, resulting in the clearest ice possible.

 

SANTOS TACOS ANNOUNCES A NEW MEZCAL BAR AND COCKTAIL MENU

        Santos Guisados Tacos &Beers downtown at 616 E. Carson Avenue opened earlier this year. It’s Las Vegas’ first guisado taco shop and recently introduced a new mezcal bar and cocktail menu in its new expanded bar. Santos’ new beverage program features small batch mezcal from Oaxaca, crafted Sangritas and house-made specialty salts.

            The cocktail menu has been developed by master mixologist Michael Carlisi, who lived in Oaxaca and worked directly with the regional spirit. Born and raised in the Bay Area, Carlisi has been involved with some of the most formative restaurant and bar entities in northern California, such as Comal (where he won best margarita award), Slanted Door, The Douglas Room and Cesar.

 

THE CLAIRVOYANTS WILL PERFORM CHRISTMAS SHOW AT PARIS

        The Clairvoyants, who are “America’s Got Talent” finalists and “World Champions of Mentalism,” added a performance date to their U.S. Christmas tour with a stop on Nov. 29 at Paris. Their holiday-themed show will feature illusions performed by the duo, Thommy Ten and Amélie van Tass, in the Christmas spirit. Tickets begin at $30.

        Ten and Tass met in October 2011, began developing their “second sight” act, and two months later performed it on stage. Within a year they had developed a full-length show and started touring Europe. In 2014, they had a six-month run in “The Illusionarium” show and then a featured spot in the largest touring magic show in the world, “The Illusionists.” In 2016, The Clairvoyants were second place winners in “America’s Got Talent.”

 

MAGICAL FOREST LAUNCHES HELICOPTER HOLIDAY PACKAGE

Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters be giving Santa and Mrs. Claus a ride from the North Pole to Opportunity Village’s annual Magical Forest to light the tree and kick off the holiday season running Nov. 29 through Jan. 4, 2020.


                   New this year, “Magical Flight of Lights” will provide a 10- to 15-minute helicopter flight over the Strip, originating out of Papillon’s McCarran VIP terminal. The experience will include champagne and passes to the Magical Forest good through Jan. 4. Pricing begins at $84.

 

SECOND VEGAS VEGANS DINNER PLANNED AT CATCH INSIDE ARIA

        Vegans, Baby, a Las Vegas’ vegan dining guide and lifestyle brand, in partnership with the James Beard Foundation, will continue its Vegas Vegans series with a second plant-based dinner at the James Beard House in New York City on Nov. 13. For part two, the new roster of hand-picked chefs will showcase the best plant-forward dishes found from chefs on the Las Vegas Strip.

        An encore dinner will take place in Las Vegas Wednesday, Nov 20 at CATCH Las Vegas inside Aria starting at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $140 and include the Champagne and Canape Reception, five-course meal and beverage pairings, tax and gratuity. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Mercy for Animals. Tickets are available on Eventbrite.

            At the first dinner, Vegans, Baby founder Diana Edelman assembled primarily off-Strip chefs. This time the chefs represent L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon, Searsucker, Harvest, CATCH, and MGM Grand.

 

NEW APARTMENT BUILDING PLANNED FOR LAS VEGAS’ ARTS DISTRICT

        Cherry Development, local developer of downtown residential condominium buildings including SoHo Lofts and Newport Lofts, has unveiled plans for its first residential apartment building, shareDOWNTOWN, in the Las Vegas Arts District at the corner of Casino Center Boulevard and Colorado Avenue. Rents are estimated to begin at $1,100 a month with some utilities included.

        Slated to open in May 2020, shareDOWNTOWN will have 63 one-bedroom units on three floors with modern design elements. The building’s ground floor will have two retail spaces and parking for residents. The centerpiece will be an interior, dedicated green space open-air courtyard for relaxing or entertaining as well as a space called the Zen Room for yoga, meditation and other wellness programming. For the business minded, an upgraded business center will be available with a coworking space, cubicles, free coffee, wi-fi and a small conference room. To reflect the artistic neighborhood, shareDOWNTOWN will include original design elements, including one-of-a-kind murals and sculptures created by local artist SNIPT.

 

ENTERTAINMENT NEWS

        The Las Vegas-based music festival Big Blues Bender has announced it will move to Westgate for its 7th annual festival set for Sept. 10-13, 2020. Tickets and entertainment lineup for the annual only-in-Vegas hotel takeover event will be available soon. Big Blues Bender features four days and nights of music and accommodations, with the motto “Everything, An Elevator Ride Away®.”

        Modest Mouse formed in Issaquah, Wash., in 1993, will make a tour stop at Brooklyn Bowl on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. Over the past two decades, Modest Mouse has become the indie rock gold standard. Tickets start at $58.75.

        The Spare Room inside the Downtown Grand has added “Leslie Mckinney’s PRESTO!”show every Wednesday-Sunday at 6 p.m. featuring comedy, magic and mystery with a vintage Vegas flair complete with showgirls and grand illusions in an intimate setting.

         Recently the outlandish crew of the starship OPM 73 celebrated their 800th space flight from Uranus to Las Vegas with another in-flight performance of “OPIUM” at The Cosmopolitan. Following the 10 p.m. journey, the crew celebrated backstage with the ultimate OPIUM-themed cake by Las Vegas’ own Just a Bite Cheesecakes.

Las Vegas Suite concert featuring the Las Vegas Jazz Connection with Nathan Tanouye and Clint Holmes is a scholarship fundraiser taking place at Notoriety inside Neonopolis downtown on Sunday, Nov. 10 from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 and $75 VIP.

 

HOFBRÄUHAUS AND EATERTAINMINT EVENTS HOST FIRST DONUT FEST

        Hofbräuhaus and Eatertainmint Events are joining forces to host the first Donut Fest Las Vegas on Sunday, Nov. 17. The beer hall and garden are inviting guests to sample donuts, enjoy beer, coffee, a Donut Eating Contest Sweetened by Pinkbox Doughnuts®, and samplings from many participating vendors.On Eventbrite general admission tickets are $30 with event access from 3 to 5 p.m., one donut sample from each booth, a 17-oz. Hofbräu beer, a voting ballot to name Vegas’ Favorite Donut, non-alcoholic beverage samples, photobooth opportunities, entry into the donut-eating contest and much more. Tickets for kids and designated drivers are $15.

 

DINING HIGHLIGHTS

        The local culinary competition BOH Brawl (Back of House) will conclude the 2019 season with a daytime championship battle Nov. 17 at The Sand Dollar Lounge starting at 3 p.m. Guests can expect three rounds of culinary challenges – two quickfire rounds before the final 30-minute food truck challenge. Each chef team will compete for the trophy with secret ingredients provided by Eataly Las Vegas.

        Smith &Wollensky Restaurant Group, a collection of American steakhouses, will host the second nose-to-tail dining event, The Whole Cow, on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at locations including Las Vegas. A one-night epicurean experience is $195 offering guests a 10-course tasting menu featuring unique steak cuts and presentations, with drink pairings to match. The Smith &Wollensky culinary team will guide guests on a journey of “beef authority” from farm to filet, sharing the tradition and significance of the nose-to-tail movement.

        The Jarvis Estate private wine dinner will be held at Bazaar Meat by José Andrés at the Sahara on Tuesday, Nov. 19 from 8 to 11 p.m. For this intimate wine dinner, Chef Alex Pitts will prepare a specialty menu paired with wines from the Jarvis Estate in Napa Valley, Calif. Tickets are $295 on the Sahara Las Vegas website.

         Ferraro’s next Sotto le Stelle – Under the Stars – late-night, all-you-can-eat patio grilling experience will take place Saturday, Nov. 16 from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. Cost is $25, which includes a complimentary drink from the bar with access to deals and discounts on wine, beer, and more.

        A complimentary buffet will be offered to active, inactive and retired military at Aliante, The Orleans, Gold Coast, Suncoast, Sam’s Town and Cannery during the “Vets Eat Free” promotion on Monday, Nov. 11.

Family-owned Freed’s Bakery will offer complimentary cupcakes and a 10 percent discount on all desserts to active-duty military and veterans in honor of Veterans Day on Nov. 11.

       Guns N’ Roses closed their outrageously successful “Not In This Lifetime Tour” at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace with global superstar Carrie Underwood in the audienc eand calling the experience a “Top Five Night of my entire life!” on her Instagram.

        Terry Bradshaw had fellow co-star of NBC’s “Better Late Than Never,” Jeff Dye, in his audience at the Luxor along with comedian JC Currais. Dye will be appearing at Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club at The LINQ Promenade Friday-Sunday, Nov. 15-17.

            Rapper, singer and songwriter Roddy Ricch accompanied by friends celebrated his 21st birthday at the rooftop Drai’s Nightclub at The Cromwell. The rapper performed several of his hit songs on stage and was presented with an elaborate cake, complete with $100 bills and topped with a crystal-encrusted “21.” Ricch in collaboration with rapper Gunna just dropped his newest hit “Start Wit Me” and is working on an album, “Please Excuse Me ForBeing Antisocial.

        Girls on the Run Las Vegas (GOTR) will host its Fall 5K Gingerbread (Wo)man Dash on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 8 a.m. at Springs Preserve. The community is invited to participate. Cost is $35 for adults and $15 for youth under 18 years of age.
