JEFF FOXWORTHY WILL PERFORM TWO SHOWS AT THE VENETIAN

            Renowned comedian widely known for his redneck jokes and bestselling author Jeff Foxworthy will headline a two-show limited engagement at The Venetian Theatre on Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 24-25 at 8 p.m. Tickets on sale Nov. 2 start at $69.

            Foxworthy, whose style has been compared to Mark Twain’s, holds the record as the biggest selling comedy-recording artist in history. The multi-Grammy Award nominee has also released more than 26 books and in 2014 was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. Foxworthy was the host of the hit FOX game show “Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?”

            Foxworthy recently toured with Larry the Cable Guy on the “We’ve Been Thinking Tour,” which featured all new material from both comedians. The live show filmed as a comedy special in the spring of 2016 is available on Netflix. Foxworthy also has his own comedy channel “Jeff and Larry’s Comedy Roundup” on Sirius XM.

 

PURPLE REIGN STARTS A NEW RESIDENCY AT THE TROPICANA

            “Purple Reign,” the world’s No. 1 Prince tribute-show starring Jason Tenner, closed at the Westgate to start a new Strip residency at the Tropicana on Nov. 1 headlining 9 p.m. shows Wednesday through Saturday in the showroom. Tickets start at $49.99.

            Tenner opened at the Westage Cabaret in October 2014 and moved into the larger International Theater in August 2016. Over 20-some years, the Prince tribute-artist has appeared all around town in venues at such locations as House of Blues, Monte Carlo, Hooters, various Station Casinos, Planet Hollywood and the D Las Vegas. On Nov. 17, 2008, Tenner became the first-ever tribute/impersonator act to appear as the musical guest on “Late Show with David Letterman.”

 

VEGAS ACES VOLLEYBALL CLUB UNVEILS FIRST TRAINING CENTRE

             Vegas Aces Training Centre, which opened last weekend, is Southern Nevada’s first dedicated volleyball facility and the first-of-its-kind facility in the region. It is the new home of the Vegas Aces Volleyball Club, which despite lacking a dedicated training facility until now has nonetheless amassed impressive accolades and rankings.

            Located in Henderson, the new two-story facility began construction in October 2016. It features 28-foot-high ceilings with three courts on the first floor, dedicated viewing areas for guests from the second floor balcony and office space. The court features the same padded faux wood floors used at the Beijing Olympics.

 

TWO NEW TENANTS PLANNED AT GALLERIA AT SUNSET

            The Galleria at Sunset mall in Henderson has two new tenants opening soon.

            The Raider Image, the official store for Raiders merchandise, will open in November on the lower level by the shopping plaza’s entrance. The 3,600-square-foot space will be owned and operated by The Raiders. Sideline, on-field and exclusive products and apparel for all ages will be available for purchase.

            Bobby Mao’s Chinese Kitchen + Mexican Cantina will bring two cuisines under one roof when it opens early next year offering an expansive selection of Chinese and Mexican fare. The restaurant will have a main dining area, and around 7,000 square feet featuring a sophisticated bar and lounge space with TVs, plush couches and booths. Restaurateurs Bobby and wife Tina are from Palm Desert, Calif., where they operate Bobby Mao’s Chinese Kitchen. Their new restaurant, the first in this market, will be located at the main entrance to the mall next to Red Robin.

 

MIX94.1’S ANNUAL CONCERT WILL FEATURE KELLY CLARKSON

            Mix94.1 will present Mercedes in the Morning’s Not So Silent Night featuring Kelly Clarkson, special guest All Time Low, and more acts TBA. The annual concert will return to The Joint at Hard Rock on Sunday, Dec. 3 at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $35.80.

            Atlantic recording artist Clarkson’s “Meaning Of Life” debut album on the label is being released this week on Friday, Oct. 27.

 

COUNTRY ARTIST DYLAN SCOTT WILL HEADLINE THE FOUNDRY AT SLS

            Billboard Country Chart-topping and breakout country music star Dylan Scott will perform at The Foundry inside SLS Las Vegas on Friday, Jan. 12. This year, the deep-voiced Louisiana native received a gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America for his hit song “My Girl,” and he was named an AT&T “About to Break” artist. Tickets start at $22.50.  

 

MAGICAL MEMORIES HOSTS TRIO OF ARTIST APPEARANCES

            Performance artist Stephen Fishwick, pop artist Tennessee Loveless and filmmaker, artist and author Dave Bossert will be on hand for live painting and performances, dedications, book signings, arts and crafts, a costume contest and more throughout the weekend Oct. 27-29 at the flagship Magical Memories gallery inside The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace.

            The public is invited to dress in costume for the free events including meet-and-greets and trick or treats on Friday night and all-day Saturday with a special costume contest on Saturday at 3 p.m.

 

HALLOWEEN THEMED EVENTS

 

FREAKLING BROS. HAUNTED HAUNTS

            Freakling Bros. The Trilogy of Terror celebrating 25 years in Las Vegas have three heart-stopping haunts at the Grand Canyon Shopping Center, including the classic Castle Vampyre ($17), the experimental COVEN of 13 ($15), and the award-winning Gates of Hell ($17), which is Nevada’s first and only R-rated attraction. Discounts are available for combining houses and multiple visits, including the $39 “Freak Pass.” Remaining dates of operation are through Oct. 31.

 

DOWNTOWN CONTAINER PARK

            Downtown Container Park will have a “spooktacular” slate of events for any age. Downtown Container Park’s monthly Kids Camp series will return with “Halloweentown” on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Kids will enjoy festive snacks and beverages and a balloon artist while decorating pumpkins and playing Halloween-themed games. Tickets are $10 per child.

            Downtown Container Park’s monthly beer and wine walk series will be ZOMBIE Cider & Beer Walk on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 5 to 8 p.m. with unlimited brews and ciders, haunting tunes by the Shawn Degraff Band, and prizes for best costume and best zombie walk impersonation. Tickets are $25 in advance online or $30 at the gate.

            The Downtown Container Park’s free Halloween Candy Crawl on Tuesday, Oct. 31 from 5 to 7 p.m. is time for the family to dress up and gather treats.

 

LINQ AND HIGH ROLLER

            Through Oct. 31, The LINQ Promenade has perfect photo-op outdoor Halloween décor. On Oct. 27, 29-31 at the beginning of every hour from 7 to 10 p.m., “The Witching Hour” “spooktacular” show will take over the Fountain Stage.

             On Saturday, Oct. 28, the annual “TRIQ or Treat” experience from 2-6 p.m. will provide a festive atmosphere where all the little costumed monsters and their families can collect sweet treats and surprises from participating restaurants and retailers. “The Witching Hour” will be performed at 4, 5, 6 and 7:45 p.m. and from 6-11 p.m. a DJ will present festive music sets. At 7:15 and 8 p.m., there will be heart-thumping rhythms and beats of the LED Drumline. At 9 p.m., The LINQ Promenade’s annual adult costume contest awards event will take place on the Fountain Stage with party folks competing for $15,000 in cash prizes.

            The High Roller observation wheel will be lit orange, purple and yellow for Halloween night.

 

THE PLAZA

            The Plaza will host a free adult Halloween bash on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 7 to 11 p.m. under its dome. Guests are encouraged to wear their spookiest Halloween costumes to the party, which will conclude with a fireworks show around 10:30 p.m. set off to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” 

 

WET’N’WILD

            Wet’n’Wild has partnered with Dark Knight Entertainment to transform the water park into a spooky Halloweenville Oct. 20-31 with jack-o-lanterns, food, haunted train rides, an ominous laser swamp, zombie paintball zone, a rock wall, trick-or-treating and much more. Halloweenville will have a Trick or Treat Village for $5 from Friday, Oct. 27 to Tuesday, Oct. 31. Tickets are $12 or $8 for season pass holders.

 

BEER PARK AT PARIS

            Beer Park at Paris will transform into “Boo Park” from Friday, Oct. 27 through Tuesday, Oct. 31. The Strip-side restaurant will host back-to-back Halloween parties, with costume contests and guest DJ performances throughout the weekend. Monday Night Football will get an eerie makeover on Oct. 30 with staff dressed like the undead. On Oct. 31, Beer Park will show cheesy scary movies throughout the venue.         

 

NIGHTCLUBS

            Chateau Nightclub & Rooftop at Paris will celebrate “Halloweekend” with a three-day bash, featuring Halloween parties starting on Friday, Oct. 27 with a Golden Ticket party where guests will receive a dark chocolate bar from HEXX Chocolate + Confexxions, which may contain a winning ticket. First prize will be a specialty engraved, six-liter bottle of Moet Champagne, valued at $5,000 with additional prizes for second and third place. The party on Saturday will be hosted by the women of Wicked Pictures featuring servers and guests in spooky and sexy costumes followed by a Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) after-party on Wednesday, Nov. 1.

Admission to the parties starts at $40.

            TAOlloween Weekend kicks off Thursday night with Worship Thursday’s annual Veuve Clicquot Yelloween costume contest for a chance to win a $5K cash prize. On Friday, Oct. 27, Playboy’s Haunted Fantasy Party featuring Vegas’ Sexiest Costume Contest will take over TAO Nightclub in The Venetian with playmates Carly Lauren, Amberleigh West, Audrey Allen and Brittny Ward. Guests are encouraged to wear their most seductive costumes for opportunity to be featured in a special photo gallery on Playboy.com.

            On Monday, Oct. 30, there is a $10k Halloween Costume Contest at the Marquee Nightclub.

 

RESTAURANTS

            Hard Rock Cafe on the Strip is getting into the spirit with two new bewitching menu items: The Evil Eye Cocktail and the Trick or Heat Burger offered Oct. 26-Nov. 1. Party band, Oingo Boingo will perform at the Halloween party on Oct. 31 from 9 p.m.-midnight. Tickets are $40 and the most creative costume may win $500.

            Americana Las Vegas’ Halloween “Booooze & Brunch” celebration featuring festive cocktails and free pumpkins to the first 50 guests will be held on Sunday, Oct. 29 from 11 a.m-3 p.m. Brunch offerings are unlimited for $42 with optional bottomless mimosas or Bloody Mary’s for $17. The Caramel Apple Martini will be available for $12 and free to guests over 21 wearing a costume. 

            A Halloween themed murder-mystery dinner “Mystery at the Earthquake Saloon” will take place at Lawry’s The Prime Rib on Thursday, Oct. 26 with costumes encouraged. Tickets are $99.

 

LEGENDS ROOM ADULT PARTY

            The Legends Room gentlemen’s cabaret will be re-imagined using block chain technology and a “Topless Tales from The Cryto” Halloween party featuring adult film legend Jesse Jane and sexy babes in kinky fetish costumes will take place on Saturday, Oct. 28. Gentlemen who dress for frightening success could win the costume contest and a complimentary $LGD membership/VIP experience along with $500 to be spent on drinks and entertainment at the club.

 

HORROR AUTHOR SIGNS BOOKS TO BENEFIT ALZHEIMER’S NEVADA

            Las Vegas international award-winning horror author S.D. Moore will join other authors from 2:30-4:30 p.m. on Oct. 29 at the Enchanted Forest Reiki Center, 2280 S. Jones Boulevard, for a book signing and meet-and-greet to benefit Alzheimer’s Nevada. All proceeds from the sale of Moore’s book “Wicked Prayers” will benefit the organization.

            Last month, Moore received the coveted 2017 Gold Medal Award in the Fiction-Horror Category in Reader’s Favorite Annual International Book Award Contest. Moore is an Air Force veteran who was born in Detroit but has called Nevada home for more than 20 years. Her personal tale of overcoming a stroke gives credence to her message, in the face of overwhelming odds, keep fighting.

 

 

DINING ITEMS

            Ferraro’s Italian Restaurant and Wine Bar will celebrate its 32nd anniversary, Nov. 4-12 with a special anniversary three-course menu spotlighting the restaurant’s best-loved fare priced at $32.32 per person. In December 2009, the well-established restaurant relocated to Paradise Road, renamed it Ferraro’s Italian Restaurant and Wine Bar, and owners Gino and Rosalba Ferraro’s son Mimmo became executive chef. The current 312-seat location occupies more than 9,000 square feet and has a wine collection comprising 16,000 bottles and 1,200 labels.
            Chef Scott Commings seventh installment of his popular monthly dinner series will take passengers to the great northwest and feature the must-try cuisine of Seattle on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 6:30 p.m. inside Freedom Beat at the Downtown Grand. Cost is $35.

            Via Brasil Steakhouse at 1225 S Fort Apache Road celebrates its nine-year anniversary on Oct. 23.

            Pancho’s Mexican Restaurant in Downtown Summerlin will celebrate National Nachos Day with Nachos Diablos offered exclusively on Monday, Nov. 6. With chicken, price is $13.95 and a dollar more for shrimp.

            Grimaldi's Pizzeria in the Grand Canal Shoppes is bringing back its famous pumpkin cheesecake through the end of November for $6 per slice. In addition, Grimaldi’s Tuesday Tastings, which includes half-off glasses, carafes and bottles of wine all day, has been extended through the end of the year.

            The contemporary fine dining Phoenix at Lucky Dragon with panoramic views of the Strip has updated its menu to serve a wider variety of upscale Asian flavors. The alteration moves Phoenix away from the original and more traditional family-style service toward a style better suiting the restaurant’s upscale atmosphere.

 

WYNN/ENCORE TOP ‘CONDÉ NAST TRAVELER’ LAS VEGAS’ LIST

            Wynn Las Vegas and Encore were voted “Best Hotel in Las Vegas” in the 30th Annual Readers’ Choice Awards by “Condé Nast Traveler” magazine. Wynn excelled in the Top Hotels in Las Vegas category, securing the No. 1 spot for the 11th consecutive year. More than 300,000 travelers participated in the survey casting millions of ratings and tens of thousands of comments to determine the world’s best hotels, resorts, airlines, islands and more. The Readers; Choice Awards are announced in the magazine’s November issue.

            The hotels topping the list through No. 12 and in order starting with No. 2 include: The Palazzo; Mandarin Oriental; The Venetian; Four Seasons; The Cosmopolitan; Trump International; Bellagio; Delano; Mandalay Bay; Aria; and The Mirage.

            Tickets for Elton John’s final 14 performances of “The Million Dollar Piano” at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace scheduled April 28–May 19, 2018, are on sale now.

            Collective Zoo will start off Halloween weekend at Downtown Las Vegas Events Center (DLVEC) with the two-day electronic music event, The Gathering: Maiden Voyage Oct. 27–28. There will be performances by international dance music heavy-hitters including Justin Martin, K?D, Lee Foss, Kill Frenzy and more. Tickets start at $40 per day for general admission. Proceeds will go to the Zappos Fund to help Route 91 victims.

            The seventh annual World Choreography Awards held in Beverly Hills, Calif., last weekend presented Emmy award winning choreographer, producer, director, dancer and actress, Anita Mann with the Joe Tremaine Legacy Award. Mann produces the “FANTASY” show at the Luxor.

            The Spa at Trump Las Vegas underwent a complete remodel and recently held the salon’s grand opening.

           Kappa Toys, known for its eclectic mix of both nostalgic and new toys, is new at The LINQ Promenade and positioned across from Brooklyn Bowl. The first Kappa Toys outlet is located at the Downtown Container Park.

             JDRF One Walk will kick off its 33rd annual event on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Student Union around 9 a.m. and aim to raise more than $586,000 to help fund critically needed type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. The event, organized by the JDRF Southern Nevada Chapter, is expected to attract more than 4,000 supporters. The walk is one of more than 200 community JDRF One Walks nationwide.

            The Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation (NCCF) will celebrate its grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony with major donor and international superstar Britney Spears at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4. NCCF’s Britney Spears campus opening at 3711 E. Sunset Road will include an open house from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
