FIRST ROBOTIC BAR WILL DEBUT AT MIRACLE MILE SHOPS
Tipsy Robot, the galaxy’s first land-based robotic bar, will open Friday, June 30 in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood. Tipsy Robot is the bar of the future showcasing precision mixology combined with robotic innovation. Tipsy Robot will be open 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays and to midnight on weekends.
Two cocktail-shaking robots will interact with customers allowing them to order and customize cocktails via the bar’s tablets. The robots mirror the actions of human bartenders, from mixing and pouring, to the slicing of garnishes, and the choice of shaken versus stirred. Each beverage takes 70-90 seconds from order to completion.
The high-tech venue’s interior design will include metal mesh, corrugated steel, and an otherworldly cosmic-inspired video streaming on the bar’s nine big screens. Robots; however, won’t be running the entire operation. The “Galactic Ambassadors,” human staff, will complement the robot bartenders.
VEGAS VICKIE’S DEPARTURE MAKES WAY FOR NEW RESORT-CASINO
Vegas Vickie (or Vicky), the famous kicking cowgirl neon sign on Fremont Street and directly across from a male counterpart Vegas Vic who she “married” in 1994, was lowered from her perch last week to make room for a new resort-casino project by developer Derek Stevens, owner of the D Las Vegas. Stevens purchased land occupied by Las Vegas Club casino in 2014 to continue his vision of revitalizing the west side of Fremont Street Experience and later acquired Granite Gaming Group properties in 2016. The land for these properties will be used in the development of Downtown Las Vegas’ first resort-casino to be built from the ground up in decades.
Stevens assured everyone this won’t be the last we’ll see of Vegas Vickie for her future is still looking bright. Glitter Gulch’s neon sign was originally named Sassy Sally for the casino below her. She was designed by Ad-Art and put up in 1980. Her leg was supposed to kick out over Fremont Street but that never seemed to work.
MACHINE GUN HELICOPTERS IS NEW ADVENTURE TOUR
Machine Gun Helicopters (MGH) offers the only experience over the Nevada desert and privately owned 71-acre shooting range where civilians can shoot a fixed M249 (SAW) belt fed machine gun from a Eurocopter AS350 B2 A-Star helicopter, specially modified for aerial shooting. With guidance from MGH’s Helicopter Range Masters, guests can have this adrenalin rush with the Door Gunner package for $689. Spectator packages allow friends to watch from afar.
Participants undergo a comprehensive briefing and rehearsal of the shoot prior to getting in the helicopter in MGH simulator. Guests then engage in various static targets on the mountainside while looking down an EO Tech scope with a holographic reticle, which repositions itself based on the viewpoint of the shooter’s eye.

DEANA MARTIN’S SHOW CELEBRATES HER FATHER’S 100TH BIRTHDAY
When Deana Martin returns to headline at the South Point Showroom on Friday and Saturday, June 23 and 24 at 7:30 p.m., her special show will be honoring her father Dean Martin, the King of Cool, on the anniversary of his 100th birthday. As part of her “Deana Sings Dino” concert series, the show will include special guests, some of the original Golddiggers and a mystery addition during the show through the “Surprise Guest Door.” Tickets start at $15.
One thing about Martin’s show is you get to hear fun stories about her father, who you can tell she adored. She recalls seeing her dad perform for the first time live when she was nine years old. “It was at the Copa Room at the Sands and they announced, direct from the bar Dean Martin,” she said. “The South Point room reminds me a lot of the magic back then.”
Her father was called the “King of Cool.” Martin recalls her dad never rehearsed. He had Lee Hale stand in for him at rehearsal with wearing a note on his chest that said “Dean.” Her memory is also of her father’s suits fitting him perfectly and that her grandmother was a seamstress so his style came naturally. Along with the stories, her “Deana Sings Dino” show highlights the legendary musical masterpieces keeping “The Great American Songbook” alive.
