GHOSTBAR AT PALMS WILL REOPEN AUG. 3
The beloved Ghostbar at the Palms Casino Resort will reopen its doors on Wednesday, Aug. 3. This widely popular bar and lounge on the resort’s 55th floor originally debuted in 2001 featuring spectacular views of the entire Las Vegas skyline.
Guests to the Ghostbar begin their experience being whisked up the private elevator to the 55th floor. With an intimate and inviting design, the true lure is the sky-high outdoor deck. By design, Ghostbar is a venue meant to be experienced both inside and outside. There are no private rooms. Instead, pop up performances will surprise guests and DJ’s will ramp up the party momentum. Las Vegas’ own Midnight Skye will be joined by live bands, sultry dancers, specialty acts and surprise guests. Ghostbar’s music theme will be rooted in soul.
The menu will feature specialty cocktails, large format libations and one-of-a-kind Ghost Flights. Ghostbar will begin taking Table Reservations on the Palms’ website beginning Aug.10 for first tables available on Aug. 17.
RAISING CANE’S OPENED TWO-STORY RESTAURANT ON THE STRIP
Raising Cane’s, the dining chain known for its chicken finger meals, has debuted a new store on the Strip in the Showcase Mall, down the block from the MGM Grand. But this isn’t a standard Cane’s. The new restaurant is the 14th in the Las Vegas area and the first-ever double-decker Cane’s. It joins other mall tenants Olive Garden and the FlyOver attraction and has Vegas-only hours daily 9 a.m. to 3:30 a.m.
This location is not a drive-thru, but more of experience with bold décor, a two-story LED screen on its facade, life-size artwork, a deconstructed disco ball, a glass elevator, and a private gnome casino hidden under the stairs.
Vegas is one of five Flagship locations the company is opening in the next two years in top tourism destinations.
LAS VEGAS HEADLINER FRANKIE MORENO TO PERFORM AT PALMS
Five-time “Las Vegas Headliner of the Year,” Frankie Moreno, will bring his high-energy live show, “All The Hits,” to the Palms with a limited series of performances at KAOS on July 29-30, Aug. 19–20, and Sept. 23–24. Show times are 8 p.m. Tickets start at $31.
As one of Las Vegas’ most prolific performers, Moreno has reached the No. 1 spot on the iTunes charts a record-setting 67 times with new singles, breaking the all-time No. 1 singles record for any artist in history. In 2019, he also made music history becoming the only artist to have six albums reach the Top-10 spot on the Billboard charts in a 12-month period.
As a child prodigy on the piano and a gifted multi-instrumentalist, Moreno was first introduced to audiences at the age of 10 on CBS’ “Star Search.” His performance on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” again brought him into America’s living rooms with his self-penned hit “Tangerine Honey.” He performs sold-out shows from Carnegie Hall to The Kennedy Center to The Hollywood Bowl.
As a touring artist, Moreno has traveled internationally with Sugarland, Billy Currington, and written Air Supply’s No. 8 Billboard Top-40 hit “Dance With Me” while touring as their musical director. In 2018, Moreno created a symphony concert where he performed his original music with the nation’s premier orchestras including the New York Pops, the National Symphony Orchestra, and many others.
RESCHEDULED DATES FOR ‘WEEKENDS WITH ADELE’ ANNOUNCED
Adele has announced the rescheduled dates for her “Weekends with Adele” residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. In addition to the 24 rescheduled shows, eight new shows have also been announced. Performances will now take place from Nov. 18 to March 25, 2023, including one on Christmas Eve.
A select number of tickets will be available across all 32 performances. There will be two opportunities to purchase tickets for these shows. Access to each presale will be limited with priority given to fans who held tickets for the original show dates or had previously registered and been waitlisted for the Weekends with Adele Verified Fan Presale. Eligible fans will receive an email invitation from Ticketmaster on Wednesday, Aug. 3 with further instructions on how to participate.
RED ROCK ANNOUNCES CASINO-WIDE TRANSFORMATION
Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa, a luxury resort in Summerlin, has major plans to elevate its dining scene, entertainment offerings, and gaming experiences with all-new additions to the resort. New concepts, currently underway, include the famed Thai Restaurant Lotus of Siam, an all-new Greek restaurant Naxos Taverna, and an Oyster Bar, all in partnership with Bua Food Group, as well as a stunning cocktail lounge, and adult-only pool, alongside a reimagined High Limit Slots room, and a lively casino bar.
The new restaurants will be located on the north side of the property. Lotus of Siam’s third location will open the fourth quarter of this year and Naxos Taverna will be located next door. Kallisto Oyster Bar will be at the entrance of Naxos Taverna with a 13-seat bar. The all-new casino bar will be between the two restaurants offering gaming, pre-dinner and nightcap cocktails.
The former event space Crimson will be transformed into a throwback, upscale cocktail lounge set to debut this winter.
Red Rock will now offer two new Starbucks locations at the resort with the food court location being refreshed and an all-new location in the hotel lobby.
Nielsen’s Frozen Custard will head to Summerlin with their first ever expansion from their original Henderson location. Their second store will join Red Rock’s food court in early 2023.
‘THE BEATLES™LOVE™’BY CIRQUE DU SOLEIL SET THROUGH 2023
Cirque du Soleil has confirmed the award-winning stage production “The Beatles™ LOVE™” will wow audiences at The Mirage through 2023. Working in tandem with MGM Resorts International and Hard Rock International through the property’s transition, the spectacular will continue celebrating the musical legacy of the most influential rock band in the world.
“The Beatles LOVE” is a vibrant tribute filled with breathtaking aerial artistry, colorful visuals and high-energy choreography on a 360-degree stage. The fan-favorite show recently celebrated its 16th anniversary. The show is performed Tuesday-Saturday at 7 and 9:30 p.m.
NEW KING TUT EXHIBITION WILL OPEN AT LUXOR
Imagine Exhibitions, Inc., known globally for creating, producing, and operating immersive experiences, has secured a new long-term tenancy at the Luxorto present Discovering King Tut’s Tomb, a reimagined show about the monumental discovery of the celebrated Egyptian Boy King, which will be opening100 years after renowned Egyptologist Howard Carter first laid eyes on the preserved tomb. The exhibit is slated to debut Aug. 30.
Discovering King Tut’s Tomb will recount the story of the discovery of the tomb through the lens and voice of Carter. The immersive display begins with a passageway to the burial chamber and unfolds with animations illuminating the process of mummification and its significance to ancient Egyptian culture. Additional galleries trace the 100 years of King Tut and explore archeological practices today. Pods of virtual reality chairs enhance the visitor experience.
PROGRAMMING • NEW VISUALS REVEALED FOR THE BEVERLY THEATER
Construction on The Beverly Theater is more than 75% done and on target for a winter completion. The two-story, 14,306-square-foot film house and performance theater will feature three distinct areas including the main theater, terrace, and courtyard, each thoughtfully designed and purposefully dialed-in to allow for unique content offerings and consistent programming. Additionally, The Beverly Theater will have an on-site box office, retail/concession space, fully loaded green room, catering kitchen, and educational workspaces.
Imagined by The Rogers Foundation and the brainchild of Beverly Rogers, the not-for-profit venue is perfectly situated next to the popular independent bookstore, The Writer’s Block at The Lucy.
The country’s newest theater will serve as an independent film house, intentional concert scene, and thoughtful storytelling arena downtown. The locally-forward cultural hub will offer programming in the genres of Lit, Live and Film.
Founding Creative Director Kip Kelly recently revealed a few intriguing nuggets about The Rogers Foundation vision, the building’s design, and what’s to come for this new home of artistic and creative expression.
For LIT, The Beverly Theater is a storytelling arena. Bibliophiles can expect book readings, poetry slams, live script readings, author workshops, author/director Q&A's, and more. LIVE will be a concert scene ideal for performances and productions with a purpose. For FILM, independent film lovers will enjoy films, festivals, video battles, shorts/docs, cinema dance parties, trivia nights, genre nights, celebrity presentations, and roundtable talks with filmmakers.
VEGAS-THEMED PIECE TO DEBUT AT THE SHAG STORE AT THE PALMS
On Thursday, Aug. 25 at a special public event from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Shag Store inside the Palms, Josh Agle, aka Shag, will debut and personalize “The High Roller Suite,” an exclusive piece he created specially to capture mid-century Las Vegas. It is a silk screen print on black paper, measuring 26 by 38 inches, and boasts Shag’s signature artistic style of 11 vibrant colors. Each print is hand signed by Shag and numbered with only 200 available.
The artist was inspired by the vintage signage in the 1970s he experienced on a childhood trip when most of the signs from the ‘50s and ‘60s were still intact. He researched the headliners to be sure they appeared on the Strip around the time period.
Shag has plans to do another version of this image with present day casinos and attractions like the Eiffel Tower, Palms, New York skyline, and High Roller Observation wheel. He also has other Vegas-themed ideas on the drawing board, including a depiction of Evel Knievel’s famous motorcycle jump of the Caesars Palace fountains.
Shag is a painter, designer and illustrator with a distinctive artistic style drawing from mid-century modern advertising illustration. His work depicting stylized urbanites is imbued with irony, attitude, and a sly sense of humor. He opened his first store in Palm Springs, Calif., in 2010 and second location at the Palms in May 2022.
PINE DINING IS A SUMMER CHEF COOKOUT SERIES
Pine Dining is a Summer Chef Cookout Series taking place over eight weekends at the site of the historic Mt. Charleston Lodge, which was destroyed by fire and will be rebuilt. Meanwhile, acclaimed Las Vegas chefs are invited to curate “cookout” weekends for the ultimate mountain dining experience with all proceeds going to the nonprofit of their choice.
There is no parking at the site; however, cabins will be available for rent and shuttles will also transport guests and can be reserved when purchasing an event ticket.
On Saturdays you can choose from afternoon 1-4 p.m. or evening 5-8 p.m. sessions. Saturday “cookouts” feature tasting stations and bar service activated in a fun pop-up space with dishes from acclaimed Las Vegas chefs along with scenic views, craft cocktails, and live music.
Sunday events are an intimate chef’s table experience. Chefs are given free rein in service format to cater to a more intimate and elevated dining experience. Attendees will be guided through a coursed menu prepared by the weekly chef and enjoyed al fresco with beverage included.
Chef James Trees debuted the series last weekend. Upcoming chefs include Justin Kingsley Hall July 30-31; Colin Fukunaga, Robert Magsalin and Dan Coughlin Aug. 6; Sam Marvin Aug. 7; Nicole Brisson Aug. 13-14; and more future chefs will be announced.
All the chefs are esteemed. Nicole Brisson is Executive Chef and partner of Breeza and Bar ZaZu at Resorts World. Along with business partner Jason Rocheleau, they have another concept in the works, AMARI opening this winter at the UnCommons currently under construction in the southwest Las Vegas valley.
LVMPD FOUNDATION HOSTS SECOND HOWL-O-WEEN DOG PARADE
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) Foundation will hold its second Howl-O-Ween Dog Parade on Sunday, Oct. 2 from 10 a.m. to noon at Dollar Loan Center, the new arena in Henderson at 200 S. Green Valley Parkway. This event has costumed canines putting on some of the cutest and most creative costumes to strut their stuff in the Halloween Dog Parade costume contest to compete for recognition as Top Dog, Best Dog & Hooman Duo, and Best Pack.
Registration fee is $50 per dog and now open. Check in starts at 9:45 a.m. and the contest starts promptly at 11 a.m. All pets must be licensed with tags, healthy, play well with others, and on a leash to attend.
Ghosts and goblins of the humankind are also encouraged to match their pups in Halloween costumes and partake in the festivities. The two-hour event will feature pet-friendly activities, DJ, raffle, and for purchase unique food stations, along with The Bone Bar featuring doggie bowl and treat stations for the four-legged participants.
The 2023 LVMPD K-9 calendar featuring 12 beloved heroes of Metro will be unveiled and available for purchase at the event along with LVMPD branded merchandise.
Proceeds will benefit the LVMPD Foundation to help support hundreds of programs and initiatives.
TAILGATE SOCIAL AT PALACE STATION BEGINS MONTHLY DRAG TRIVIA
Tailgate Social Bar and Grill, located at Palace Station, will start trivia nights co-hosted by a drag queen beginning at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month, starting Aug. 2. With an interesting twist on classic trivia, Tailgate’s drag trivia nights will test guests’ knowledge while keeping them entertained with a drag queen co-host complete with two shows each evening.
Along with monthly drag-themed trivia, Tailgate Social also hosts weekly trivia every Tuesday at 7 p.m., offering participants the chance to win prizes including tickets to sporting events, pitchers of beer, and more.
In addition, Tailgate Social is extending its popular New England-style lobster boil through the end of August featuring Maine lobster, Littleneck clams, Kielbasa sausage, Red Bliss potatoes and corn on the cob for $23.
NATIONAL ATOMIC TESTING MUSEUM WILL DEBUT BRAND-NEW EXHIBIT
The National Atomic Testing Museum (NATM) will reveal a brand-new joint exhibit in partnership with the United States Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Environmental Management (EM) titled “Beyond the Manhattan Project: Cleaning up the Legacy of America’s Nuclear Defense and Research Missions” on Tuesday, Aug. 2 from 1:45 to 5 p.m. The exhibit will detail the critical work EM does to clean up various sites impacted by five decades of nuclear weapons production and government-sponsored nuclear energy research.
The creation of the brand-new exhibit was inspired by a distinguished lecture held at the museum in July 2021 featuring Todd Shrader, the former principal deputy assistant secretary for EM. In addition to showcasing how the cleanup of contaminated nuclear weapons manufacturing and testing sites is completed, the new exhibit will also increase public awareness of how EM cooperates with local communities to ensure the health and safety of the public and workforce in the United States.
Guests are invited to the ribbon cutting and opening remarks. The free guided tour and guest reception requires advance registration on the NATM website.
Also available to guests on a first-come, first-served basis will be complimentary pieces of rock salt dating back to the Permian geologic period.
DOWNTOWN CONTAINER PARK DEBUTS LIVE MUSIC SERIES
Downtown Container Park is starting a new late-night series, Downtown Container Park After Dark, on Saturday, July 30. The new late night live music series will begin with a free glam rock tribute show. From 9:30 to 11:30 p.m., Mr. Crowley – The Ozzy Osbourne Experience will take over the Container Park stage to bring the iconic rock legend’s electrifying catalogue of hits to life. The night will start early at 7:30 p.m. with special guest opener Cobra Zebra.
Attendees are invited to stay hydrated with an array of bottomless brew options. For $20per person, guests can expect fan favorite beers like Founders IPA, Heineken and more.
CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL BEER DAY
The STRAT will celebrate International Beer Day with specials on drafts and beer flights on Friday, Aug. 5. Offered exclusively that day, REMIX Lounge, PT’s Wings & Sports, View Lounge and 108 Drinks will serve $7 drafts, including domestic, import and craft beer. Additionally, PT’s Wings & Sports and View Lounge will offer half-off beer flights.
