THE LINQ WILL INTRODUCE FIRST ZIPLINE ON THE STRIP

            The LINQ Promenade plans to build the approximately $20 million Fly LINQ with 10 side-by-side zip lines, capable of simultaneously launching all riders. Construction is expected to begin next spring with completion in late 2018.

                          Fly LINQ will be constructed at the open-air shopping, dining and entertainment district. Guests are expected to begin their ride experience by taking an elevator designed to provide open Strip views from the Vortex at The LINQ Hotel & Casino to the top of the 122-foot-tall launch tower. Riders will be able to ride in either a “superman” or seated position and will travel 1,080 feet above The LINQ Promenade.

 

VEGAS HEADLINING ARTISTS HOLD ‘VEGAS STRONG BENEFIT CONCERT’

            Las Vegas’ entertainment industry is uniting to host the “Vegas Strong Benefit Concert” at the T-Mobile Arena on Friday, Dec.1 at 7:30 p.m. The special evening will feature Boyz II Men, Cirque du Soleil, David Copperfield, Imagine Dragons, Penn & Teller, The Killers, and others to be announced. Proceeds will benefit the Las Vegas Victims Fund. Tickets range from $75-$125.

            T-Mobile is offering text-to-give support. Anyone can donate directly by texting VEGAS to 20222 to give $10 to the National Compassion Fund.

 

EMERGE IMPACT + MUSIC CONFERENCE HOLDS VICTIMS’ BENEFIT CONCERT

            Emerge Impact + Music Conference will hold a one-night concert at Brooklyn Bowl on Saturday, Nov. 18 to benefit the Las Vegas Victims’ Fund. Tickets are $15 and 100 percent of the proceeds will go directly to the fund.

            The event will feature live music from touring artists including garage-rock band White Reaper, singer-songwriter Mondo Cozmo, and indie-pop artist Quinn XCII, as well as a very special Vegas Super Set, spotlighting local artists B. Rose, Mike Xavier, and Sabriel, among others. The concert will be enhanced with appearances by speakers including Choudhry, Grammy award-winning record producer Rob Cavallo, legendary MTV video deejay Matt Pinfield, and more.

            United Blood Services will be on site to enroll donors and set up appointments.

 

NEW BUFFET AND GRILL OPEN

            The Tropicana’s new dining experience opening Nov. 22 will be the all-you-can-eat Savor, the Buffet. The restaurant will offer up to four live action stations featuring various cuisines such as American, Asian, Italian and Mexican and showcase fresh, made-to-order pizza and pasta stations. Savor will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. with prices starting at $21.95 for breakfast, $26.95 for lunch, and $31.95-$34.95 for dinner. To-go options will also be available.

            The Wrangler Grill, a new rodeo steakhouse inspired by Mexican musical artists and rodeo stars, opened at the Silver Nugget in North Las Vegas for breakfast, lunch and dinner at affordable prices. Hours are 8 a.m. to midnight daily. Current promotions include a two egg breakfast for $1.99 and prime rib dinner for $5.99.

 

Michael Grimm Joins Tuscany’s ENTERTAINMENT Lineup

            Michael Grimm, winner of “America’s Got Talent” season five, has joined the weekly entertainment lineup at Tuscany performing every Tuesday night starting at 7:30 p.m. in the Piazza Lounge. Grimm has toured with Stevie Nicks, Heart and Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers in addition to opening for BB King, Doobie Brothers and Little River Band.

 

ROSINA COCKTAIL RETREAT WILL DEBUT AT THE PALAZZO

            Rosina, an elegant 65-seat cocktail retreat, will be unveiled at The Palazzo® in December as the first of three new cocktail bars planned for the resort. Designed to look like an elegant train car, it will have an Art Deco flair with shades of black, champagne, rose gold and blush, a façade of solid brass molding and custom-shaped glass, and bold brass inlayed flooring. The bar will feature hand-crafted crystal lighting, tufted leather seats with the Rosina monogram, pink velvet chairs in the lounge area, and curtained banquette tables flanking the bar. Rosina’s most innovative feature will be a “Champagne Call Button” to top off a patron’s flute.

 

‘THE COCKTAIL CABARET’ WILL DEBUT AT CLEOPATRA’S BARGE

            “The Cocktail Cabaret,” a new live 70-minute musical show, will open Thursday, Nov. 30 at the famed 140-seat Cleopatra’s Barge in Caesars Palace. This will be the first show on the Strip created and produced by Las Vegas-based PK Entertainment founded by musical team Keith Thompson (“Jersey Boys,” “Idaho! The Comedy-Musical” and “The Composers Showcase” at The Smith Center) and pianist Philip Fortenberry with multiple Broadway credits and who was also the Liberace hand/body double in HBO’s biopic, “Behind the Candelabra.”

            The 5 p.m. cocktail hour experience Wednesday through Saturday will feature a combination of live original music and well-known stylized and re-imagined modern standards. The singers will be joined on stage by a four-piece band led by Fortenberry.

            The singing talent will include: Broadway veterans Niki Scalera (“Hairspray,” “Tarzan,” “Footloose”) and Eric Jordan Young (“Rock of Ages,” “Vegas! The Show,” “Ragtime,” “CHICAGO,” “Seussical the Musical,” “Look of Love,” “Dreamgirls”); rising multilingual classical/pop cross-over vocalist Daniel Emmet who has commanded stages from The Staples Center in Los Angeles to the Palais Todesco in Vienna; and also Maren Wade (“America’s Got Talent,” “Confessions of a Showgirl,” “Pin Up,” “50 Shades! The Parody”). 

            Tickets are $55. Locals are offered two-for-one-tickets with Nevada ID through Dec. 23 using promo code CKLOCAL.

 

‘MASTERS OF ILLUSION’ WILL OPEN IN JUBILEE THEATER AT BALLY’S

            “Masters of Illusion,” the hit CW television series and America’s largest touring magic stage show, will debut a limited engagement in the Jubilee Theater at Bally’s on Wednesday, Dec. 6. The show features a rotating cast of veteran and rising star magicians and has been performed around the United States and in more than 125 other countries over the past six years. The initial ensemble cast will include: Jason Bird, Tommy Wind, Farrell Dillon, Greg Gleason and Chris Randall. Tickets start at $34.

 

VEGAS HOLIDAY SEASON HAS LIGHTS, ICE SKATING AND SANTA

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas Brings Back The Ice Rink

            For the sixth consecutive year, The Cosmopolitan welcomes the return of The Ice Rink as Boulevard Pool transforms into a winter wonderland high above the Las Vegas Strip and opens to the public Monday, Nov. 20. Visitors will enjoy roof-top ice skating on more than 4,200 square feet of real ice, roasting s’mores by the fire, light snow showers, adult renditions of seasonal culinary classics and breathtaking views. This year, The Cosmopolitan is adding a Christmas tree and first-ever tree lighting ceremony hosted by Olympian figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi on Monday, Dec. 4.

 

Green Valley Ranch Creates Winter Village With Ice Rink

            Green Valley Ranch will be transforming its outdoor amphitheater located in the backyard pool area into a Winter’s Village with an outdoor 6,000-square-foot real ice rink and holiday-inspired activities from Nov. 24-Jan. 7. Upon entering, guests will be greeted with more than 60 decorated trees and holiday music.

            “Saturdays with Santa” will be offered from 2-6 p.m. every week through Dec. 23. Visits with Santa will be free, with photos having an additional charge. 

            Hours will be daily opening at 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. Friday-Sunday and running until 9 and 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $20 with skate rentals included. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to St. Jude's Ranch for Children.

 

Wet’n’Wild Debuts Las Vegas Christmas Town

            Wet’n’Wild will be transformed into a Las Vegas Christmas Town from Friday, Nov. 24 to Sunday, Dec. 31. The nighttime winter wonderland will feature entertainment and attractions including an ice skating rink, a 40-foot Christmas tree, 100-foot sledding hill, 40-passenger Polar Express train ride, paintball zone, photos with Santa Claus, nightly snowfalls, more than three million glistening lights and much more. Hours are 5:30 to 9 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and until 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday (closed Dec. 24-25). Tickets are $20.

 

Santa Photo Ops at Galleria at Sunset Mall

            Santa Claus has arrived at the Galleria at Sunset mall with his helpers. Through Dec. 24, guests can make hassle-free appointments and purchase a photo package in advance with the Santa Fast Pass, which includes skipping the lines, a $20 Shutterfly gift card, and three calls from Santa. Walk-ups are first-come-first-served. Each Santa photo purchase includes one all from Santa and a $20 Shutterfly gift card.


            This year, Santa Claus is available for pet photos with cats and dogs only on a leash.

 

Glittering Lights Is Open At Motor Speedway

            Nevada’s largest holiday drive-thru light show, Glittering Lights at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway celebrates 17 years as a local holiday tradition. The attraction features more than three million lights along a 2.5-mile course that intertwines through the speedway. Cost is $20 Monday-Thursday and $30 Friday-Sunday, holidays and Dec. 19-25. Monday, Nov. 30 will be Military Monday with active and inactive military/families with valid ID getting free entry.

 

ENTERTAINMENT HIGHLIGHTS

            Topless revue “X ROCKS,” from the creators of “X Burlesque,” has opened in The Back Room at Bally’s. The 10 p.m. high-voltage show combines sensual dance routines with pulsating rock hits. Performances are Thursday through Sunday. Tickets are $47.94 and $62.95.

         The Las Vegas Connection Live Radio/stage Show taking place every Thursday from 3:30-5 p.m. in the Grandview Lounge at South Point is free and open to the public with new guests being interviewed each week. Audience members have a chance to ask questions and to win prizes.

            Grammy Award nominated singer Charlie Wilson will headline the Star of the Desert Arena in Primm, Nev., a 25-minute drive from Las Vegas, on Saturday, Nov. 25. Wilson rose to fame as a member of The Gap Band. Tickets start at $35.

            The Clairvoyants’ Amélie van Tass and Thommy Ten, who became famous coming in second place on “America’s Got Talent,” will appear at the Access Showroom in the Aliante resort on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $25.

            Previously known as Emil Chau, Hong Kong-born singer and actor Wakin Chau will appear at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan on Saturday, Nov. 25 at 8 p.m. Chau has released more than 40 albums and learned to play the guitar when he was 13 years old. Reserved seats start at $88.

            DJ Diplo has extended his exclusive residency at Wynn-Encore for two years through 2019. He’s been a resident DJ since 2012 and will perform at Encore Beach Club, XS and Intrigue nightclubs.

            The Backstreet Boys will return to Chateau Nightclub & Rooftop at Paris with another official concert after-party on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 10:30 p.m. Admission starts at $40.

            WCK Full Rules Muay Thai, the longest running Muay Thai sports entertainment event in the United States, will bring the world’s best fighters together on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. for top-notch boxing and martial arts competitions, including WCK vs. Wulinfeng at the Orleans Arena. Tickets start at $25.

            The Angeleno group Las Cafeteras, fusing traditional Afro-Mexican music with modern rhythms, creates a fresh urban sound from the streets of East Los Angeles, and will bring their infectious sound to Historic Fifth Street School downtown on Saturday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m.

           

NEIMAN MARCUS’ HOLIDAY COLLECTION BENEFITS DISCOVERY MUSEUM

            In Las Vegas, Neiman Marcus’ charitable giving this holiday season will have 10 percent of sales proceeds from the special Love To Give collection sold at the Fashion Show Mall location through Dec. 25 going directly to benefit nonprofit Discovery Children’s Museum for youth arts education.

            In conjunction with the Love To Give collection, Petersen Elementary School students helped create a festive window display for Neiman Marcus, full of individually decorated butterflies, which shoppers can view through Nov. 18.

 

DINING NEWS ITEMS

            Cravings buffet at The Mirage introduced Chef’s Table offering a new VIP treatment. The personalized experience includes a dedicated team delivering tableside presentations and exclusive multi-course culinary creations. The group’s epicurean adventure is available nightly from 4 to 9 p.m. for $49.99 and $52.99 Friday-Sunday.

Alternative offerings are available for guests with dietary restrictions as well as the buffet’s 11 international stations with unlimited soft drinks, beer and wine.

            Umami Burger, Beer Garden & Sports Book at SLS in partnership with Impossible Foods has introduced The Impossible Burger, which appears, smells, cooks and tastes like ground beef from cows but is made entirely from plants along with various new menu items. The two-patty burger costs $17.95.

            The 12th annual Foodie Nation will take place downtown on the corner of 3rd and Ogden on Nov. 18 and 19 from 11 a.m. to midnight both days. It’s free to attend.

             Grimaldi’s Pizzeria has a few add-ons such as Pumpkin Cheesecake for its November Fall Favorites menu. In addition, its Holiday Bonus Program running through November offers a $10 bonus card with the purchase of $50 worth of gift cards and a $20 bonus card with a $100 purchase.

 

A SHOUT OUT

            A couple past events are worthy of being recognized. One is The Sicilian Tenors performed a special showcase recently at The Space and totally impressed attendees. Friends Aaron Caruso, Elio Scaccio and Sam Vitale are all American born of Sicilian ancestry. Classically trained they perform Broadway tunes, classic Neapolitan songs, opera and a killer rendition of “God Bless America.”

            Hakkasan Group hosted an incredible Benefit Concert for October 1 victims at OMNIA Nightclub inside Caesars Palace this month with the industry’s top turntable artists including Tiësto, Zedd, Kaskade, Steve Aoki, Party Favor, Cash Cash, Nghtmre, and more in the main room. Céline Dion even joined DJ Aoki on stage. More than $1 million was raised for the Las Vegas Victims Fund, via the Direct Impact Fund.

 

LOCAL FUN EVENTS

            Henderson Stroll ‘n Roll, the community’s largest car-free street festival, will be held Saturday, Nov. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. from the Henderson Multigenerational Center, 250 S. Green Valley Pkwy., to Valle Verde Drive. This event is modeled after the world-famous Ciclovia in Bogotá, Colombia, transforming city blocks into a commuter-friendly neighborhood. Participants use alternative transportation, such as bikes, skates or scooters, to move, explore and play in the streets. Each entertainment zone will feature a variety of fitness and lifestyle classes, interactive demonstrations, children’s activities, bicycle attractions, entertainment and food. Admission is free.

            The Color Me Kind 5K supporting the city’s “Be Kind” initiative and open to all abilities and fitness levels will take place earlier at 8 a.m. along Paseo Verde Parkway.

Participants will be doused from head-to-toe in pops of color at four different color stations along Paseo Verde Parkway. The first 300 registered participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt. Early registration is $35 before Nov. 17, with day-of registration $40.

            The Las Vegas Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities will host the fifth annual PJ 5K Run & 1-Mile Walk through Glittering Lights at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Nov. 19 at 4:30 p.m. Participants are invited to run, walk or push strollers through the course in their pajamas for this fun and festive fundraiser. Entry fees range from $15-$45, and children age 5 and under can participate for free; register online at Speedway Charities’ website. Anyone who brings a new pair of children’s PJs to donate will have a chance to win two tickets to the 2018 NASCAR Weekend at LVMS, which runs March 2-4.

 

ABOUT TOWN ITEMS

            The William Carr Gallery opened at the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian® and The Palazzo® featuring alluring one-of-a-kind photography artwork. Carr is known worldwide as the “Modern Master of Photography.”

            Magical Memories featuring Disney Fine Art at The Forum Shops is hosting free special artist events at the gallery. Mike Kungl, who is among the world’s finest artists in the Art Deco tradition, and Miss Mindy, who has gained notoriety for her custom vinyls and one of a kind sculptures, will be painting and signing 2-5 p.m. Nov. 17, 1-3 and 4-7 p.m. Nov. 18, and 1-3 p.m. Nov. 19.

            The Burlesque Hall of Fame located at 1027 S. Main Street is open Tuesday through Saturday selling merchandise from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. The actual grand opening featuring the museum’s displays of classic costumes, set pieces, posters and other memorabilia is expected to happen next year.

            Model and social media star Nicolette Shea will celebrate her birthday with a sexy bash at Crazy Horse III gentleman’s club on Saturday, Nov. 18.

            Just moments after San Antonio resident Sylvia Tejeda sat down to play IGT’s Wheel of Fortune® slot machine at Paris, she became a millionaire after hitting the more than $1.2 million dollar jackpot. The last Las Vegas millionaire was made in September at Caesars Palace also on the Wheel of Fortune slot machine.
